Bachmann campaign manager rips Palin: She 'has not been serious' (Ed Rollins, naturally!)
The Daily Caller ^ | June 7, 2011 | Jeff Poor

This could be some of the early shots in the contest for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.

On Tuesday’s “Kilmeade and Friends” on the Fox News Radio network, former Huckabee campaign manager Ed Rollins, who signed up with potential presidential candidate Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann on Monday, explained why he decided to join the Bachmann camp.

“Well I’m going to work for Michele Bachmann if she runs,” Rollins said. “That’s the one that intrigues me the most at this point and I think to a certain extent she’s articulate, she’s a conservative. She’s got a great story to tell. She’s on the Intelligence Committee. You know, she’s unknown to the national audience, but she’ll become known and that’s the candidacy that I’m going to work for if she runs.”

But Rollins, with his own history of playing offense in presidential campaigns, took a few shots at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who could be a potential rival for Bachmann.

“Sarah has not been serious over the last couple of years,” Rollins said. “She got the vice-presidential thing handed to her. She didn’t go to work in the sense of trying gain more substance. She gave up her governorship. You know, I think Michele Bachmann and others have worked hard. She has been a leader of the Tea Party, which is a very important element here. She’s an attorney, done extraordinary things with family values and what have you. So I think she will connect. She’s a great, great communicator and I would say in the race right [now] today, she is probably the best communicator.”

I think he’s attempting to draw her into declaring. Right now, she’s not in the race and really anything said against her is against a private citizen. At this point she is really above the fray. (hehe Go Sarah) Once she is officially in the race, she’s fair game.

I believe that Ed see her as the most dominant figure on the GOP side and she isn’t even RUNNING! Rollins has his candidate and see that Palin is getting all the attention and she isn’t even a declared candidate! That is the root from which some of the “serious candidate” stuff comes from, it is from frustration because the media is NOT paying attention to HIS candidate, who, in my opinion, is just as good a conservative as Palin.

OK you use terms like supernova and expect to be taken seriously. I like Palin it’s some of her sycophant fans that drive me crazy. I like Michele Bachmann and will support her if she chooses to run. But I don’t think she’s Joan of Arc or the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I do think she sometimes makes enforced errors. I hope in this case she nips it in the bud quickly.

Could be. I’ll be curious to see what Palin does when Bachmann does announce. You don’t hire Ed Rolling if your not running.

Yes, I agree, that’s why I think he’s trying to draw Palin into declaring.

If anyone labored under the thought that Michelle had a chance to get the nomination they should have realized that it became even more impossible once Rollins was hired. I am surprised that she is unaware that he is worthless if victory is the goal. I thought she was more aware politically.

I am happy to see all the love and respect Rollins gets around here.

In a Palin versus Bachmann campaign matchup, there will be many folks who like both candidates. Both campaigns would need to keep the criticism down of the other candidate, so that they don't alienate people whom they are trying to win over.

Looks like Ed Rollins, right off the bat, fails miserably.

At least endeavor to be honest, I know you can if you really try. Actually, I’m just a little offended that you’d even insinuate that I’d support a mormon as president. And yes, I have many issues with that particular religion.

There is a lot of natural crossover between Palin supporters and Bachmann supporters. Rollins is tone-deaf if he fails to realize such and is only looking at taking out other GOP candidates, not in building a coalition to win in November 2012.

All the Republican wannabe’s should be campaigning against the _resident, the Senate and the DinoMedia, rather than trying to tear each other down. The campaign is against the incumbent regime, not each other. Rollins is a moron for starting this $hit this soon.

I’m a Missourian and Sarah Steelman pulled this same crap targeting Todd Akin LATER IN THE SAME DAY HE ANNOUNCED HIS CANDIDACY. These two should be running against ‘Air’ Claire McCaskill not ripping on each other. Its like they can’t even agree on who the enemy is.

If there isn’t enough bad policy, bad legislation/law not to mention outright lies, hypocrisy, deceit, and corruption beginnning with the DIC’s (Douchebag in Chief) first day in office, then there never will be.

Where the hell is ‘Lather Reince Repeat’ Priebus (his name sounds like what Toyota would name a hybrid city bus) in orchestrating this campaign? How much better suited is he to lead than Steele was at this stage? We need a meat eater, ass kicker not some milquetoast nobody at the helm. Calling Ted Nugent!

Oh Michelle, I used to like you very much, but now I’m not so sure. Whatever happened to Reagan’s 11th commandment?

He is going after Palin because going after Palin is the only reason that Bachmann is in the race. She cannot be that stupid that she truly believes she can win. She is in to take enough votes away from Palin tt allow Romney to slip through and beat her. It’s called a stalking horse.

Rollins goes on Kilmeade’s radio show to trash Sarah Palin and either he did it with Bachmann’s full knowledge and approval or else she’s too damn controlled and stupid to be running at all.

This is such a colossal move that I can’t believe Rollins went *Rogue*.

Neither possibility speaks well of Bachmann.

And this is a magnitude nine backstab.

Exactly! If anyone in the Palin camp had talked such sewage about Bachmann, I’d be just as upset. Frankly, hiring Rollins, a known lunatic, shows terrible judgment on Michele’s part. I’m sad about it, actually. Bob

I don’t agree, Curth. I think that she has listened to the CW, and is betting that Sarah will not run. But, after this mad salvo from Rollins, she’s not going to beat anyone in the primaries. It’s OVER when your own guy makes a statement that sounds as if it came from James Carville or Rahm Emmanuel. Bob
