I think he's the contender with the best chance of surviving the left's and the MSM's slings and arrows precisely because of his charisma. He's very difficult not to like, even by those who's political lunch he is eating.

And unlike Palin and Bachmann, I don't think I've ever heard anyone doubt (fairly or not) his intelligence.

I think he will trounce Obama if he gets the nomination.

The few who actually "doubt" Palin's intelligence are only those too sadly stupid to recognize proven brilliance when they see it. Even those who openly ridicule her do so only because they recognize what an ineluctable force of nature she is in American Politics.

Surely you don't suggest we elect (or only seriously consider so doing) our leaders based in any way upon ignorant peoples' misimpressions, poor judgement, and easily duped, gullible deficiencies? That would be even more insipid and puerile than are those who ridicule Palin's intelligence out of either a Machiavellian desire to deceive, or abject fear and partisan prejudice.

We're way too smart to sit still for that steamy pantload of evil silliness, now, aren't we?
