A rough translation.. I wonder if they mean mercury fulminate.. (like Walt used on Tuco in “Breaking Bad”)
I have to remember what Patton said about how to win a war;
“You don’t win a war by dying for your country. You win a war by making the other son-of-a-bitch die for his.”
These blowbots don’t even have the basics right.
Might be Hg fulminate. For sure metallic Hg won’t explode, though in the USA it can cause terror. Not to far away from where I live, a school got shut down for several days because of a mercury barometer.
The post text is pretty unintelligible, no telling what was actually meant.
They will doubtless receive a commendation from NASA for their contribution to science and technology.
Mercury is a liquid metal and turns into thousands of little balls that act like shrapnel.
The one area where the Muslim world is advancing technologically. Suicide bomb making. They pretty well have a monopoly on the business.
The only thing that comes to mind with mercury is wiring in a mercury switch. It sets the device off if turned the wrong way or is shaken.
Mercury will turn into a mist and won’t do squat.
That’s why buckshot hurts more than birdshot.
Of course, if it does penetrate the body, Mercury will have toxic effects.
Ok, who let Pelosi near a keyboard again?
I think it would vaporize in a blast. It’s not a great projectile.
A water jet would be better, since it’s easier to get, and packs a punch at 15,000 fps.
Sounds like it could be a way to more reliably transmit the shockwave from the detonator to the main charge.
when’s that show coming back? it was mu favorite...isn’t a near two year gap strange ?
What’s next? Kevlar? .....................
Every time Peshawar is mentioned I take the opportunity to remind folks that before 1 Oct. 2001, I said that den of thieves should have been flattened.
You are thinking ‘liquid’ as in water or oil.
Liquid mercury is very, very heavy, like lead. I would not want to be hit with a mercury blob at any velocity..................
They are talking about a “dead man switch”. A mercury switch inside of the jacket allows the jacket to blow if the bomber dies, they take the jacket off, or he removes the jacket. I’ll bet the bomber doesn’t even know about the switch.
Wait a minute doesn’t Pakistan require an EIS to be written when you change procedures? Mercury in the environment can be bad. The Pakistan government EPA is falling down on the job.
