Sparks flew on the opening day of the California Republican Party convention Friday as party officials and delegates debated competing proposals to address the party's role in candidate nominations under the new top-two primary system.

Outgoing party Chairman Ron Nehring is pushing a proposal to force pre-primary candidate endorsements under the new election system created by voter-approved Proposition 14. Instead of party primaries, the top two vote-getters in an all-party primary now advance to a runoff election.

Republicans are effectively screwed. California is such an incredible plum to Dems that Dem Outsiders will fund Dem candidates to the degree necessary to make Dem candidates the top N in the primary. No longer will Republicans be able to choose among themselves a representative. Quite a few of the top Republican party insiders will reveal themselves as RINOs by switching parties so they can have a say and stay on the gravy train of governmental largesse. The Democrat party wants to be in charge, make all the decisions, and hold on to the reins of power, no matter what it takes or what it costs. To the Democrats, it's all about power and whatever pretense is necessary to have it.

Abel Maldonado was the straw that broke the camel's back - a freaking Judas. Soon as the Dems were through with him, it was so long suckah - the promises meant nothing. He should have come clean about how he was suckered if he wanted to have anything good come of his perfidy.

But I will not give up.

The GOP’s best bet is to push for California to become an independent country. That way, it screw ups won’t hurt the rest of us.

Or push for secession of the “Inland Empire”- It does have prescedent with West Virginia, of those who want freedom, and those beholden to slavery, only this time it’s over the economic slavery associated with socialism v.s. the freedom of capitalism.

I SAY THE REMAINING GOP (And conservatives in CA Get tough! and go guerilla)!
