Ari Fleischer says there's no "way, shape or form" Sarah Palin can lock the Republican nomination.
"I cannot see any way, shape or form that she can win the Republican primary," Fleischer, the former press secretary to President George W. Bush, said as reported by the Idaho Mountain Express.
Fleischer, who was in Ketchum, Idaho to speak as part of the Sun Valley Center for the Arts' Lecture Series, said he'd never seen such a wide open Republican field, but that the former Alaska governor was not among the serious contenders....

Sun Valley, Ari? The only Democrat enclave in the entire state of Idaho? Interesting choice...

Whatever Palin decides to do, if she runs for POTUS she MUST bring up Obama’s questionable eligibility — something she and McPain failed to do in 2008.

I don’t think you can fault Palin for anything not brought up in ‘08, but it will be interesting to see where the eligibility issue takes Bachmann, as she doesn’t seem to be afraid to bring it up.

How does that have anything to do with Palins electability compared to others in the field? Refer to Reagan's 11th Commandment.
Oh, good grief. You might as well shut FreeRepublic down then.
The answer to my question is: citing reasons why people might want to vote against Obama has zero to do with whether or not they will vote for any particular opponent.

And P.S. -
Assessing one’s political electability is not “speaking ill” of a “fellow Republican.”

When you consider her knowledge, passion and commitment to developing oil, especially Alaskan oil; I don’t think we could have a better leader. Of course, it’s open season on Sarah. The One World Government crowd doesn’t own her and they are scaered *hitless she’ll win.

blah blah blah blah - if she makes it on the ballot she’s got my vote. Thats why Republicans are pulling out all the stops to destroy her before that can happen. It really is that simple.

As I recall, most of Bush’s press secretaries were total incompetents. At this distance, I get a bit confused, but I think Ari Fleischer was one of those.

Do you really think the polling data you cite means anything? Polls show that, if the presidential election were held today, 100 per cent of the voters would be very surprised. The overwhelming majority of the American public has given no thought to the next election. Data compiled by asking people what they think about what they haven't thought about is garbage.
Any leader who rejects the progressive world view will rack up big negatives during the off years when normal people are tuned out. Any leader who doesn't reject that world view is part or the problem and can't be part of the solution. Palin’s negatives aren't unique to her. They are the generic negatives of any movement conservative leader. Others have overcome them by running a good campaign in a favorable climate. Palin certainly can too.
