On Fox News last night, Republican political operative extraordinaire Karl Rove discussed the possibility of Hillary Clinton running for president in 2016.
"I suspect she will be a candidate. I suspect she is going to think about being a candidate in 2016, and we'll know by about 2014. If she leaves the [Obama] Administration in 2014 or 2015, in order to give herself a chance to write a book about her experiences and reconnect with the grassroots, then she might entertain it."
And what would be the clue to Clinton's intentions if there is no Obama administration in 2014? Rove didn't address that scenario.
>>Still, a RINO is better than what we have now.<<
What makes you so sure that a RINO would not be following the same path as 0bambi? Only concerted opposition by a RAT Congress, bent on defeating anything Republican, would have stopped a RINO DeathCare, massive spending, liberal SC judges and bigger government.
RINOs are nothing but RATs in sheep’s clothing.
Dont see how Bammy loses in 2012.
He has been the best thing for DC since the New Deal. More power has accrued to DC in 2 years of Bammy...than in the previous 234 years put together. Consequently the RinoCrat Oligarchy will be behind him 100%.
He has gifted away more of our treasure to his henchmen and supporters than all other presidents in history put together. That represents a reservoir of goodwill that will find absolutely NO major players in US or International powers on the other side of him in 2012.
Unless there is an absolutely unprecedented grass roots, highly motivated groundswell in Flyover Country that generates hereto for unseen numbers of voters AND the institutional corruption of the vote that characterizes many Red States suffering Blue representation is dealt with ahead of time, he will be insurmountable.
Krauthammer lost me when he attacked the Tea Party movement and then backed off saying his statements weren’t “profitable.” Anything for $$$$$$$ I no longer listen to him nor Rove.
The decision not to fight Obama in 2008 went way beyond the McCain campaign.
You mean like a Kafe Klatch or a Tea Party or something?
How I wish that Eric Breindel hadn’t left this vale of tears so early.
Ya think? All politics is local...and that’s where the TP makes the diff...
It is of no wonder how he earned the name "Tokyo Rove".....
Hildebeast cannot afford to alienate the precious black voting block which will surely happen if she wants to butt-in line ahead of the magic negro in 2012. Any candidate that topples BO will be seen/cast as racist by many of the ethnic loyalists in BO’s camp. For way too many ignorant Americans it ain’t about politics or the future, it’s simply about stickin’ it to whitey with a brother in the driver’s seat.
I'm not convinced of that. In a McCain Administration, the 111th Congress would have been even more ""productive" than the lame duck session that just wound up. We would have:

One of the very positive aspects of Obama is that a large number of people have become active. Some are actually reading the United States Constitution, the Federalist Papers, the 5000 Year Leap and are learning how this country was founded and what makes it great. That's a good thing.
Any big government Progressive will harm this country. That's why George W. Bush was so bad. For 6 years, the Republicans had control of both houses and the Presidency, and in that time, they grew the government a whole bunch. Yes, there were wars, and those cost money. But the Department of Education basically doubled in budget during the Bush Administration. That wasn't a "war expense." That was big government progressivism. And there are many other examples.

One of the things I'm watching for in the next few months is whether the Republicans are serious about making the federal government smaller. I'm not holding my breath, but that's what the TEA Party is about.
If the FY 2012 budget (which is the first fiscal year the 112th congress is responsible for) is higher than the FY 2010 budget (the last full year that the 111th Congress did their job for, sort of), we have lost. If they shrink the budget in FY 2012, there might be hope. And I'm talking in absolute terms. Fewer absoluted dollars budgeted in 2012 than in 2010. No "inflation adjusted dollars," or "percentage of GDP" fudging allowed. Smaller government, less money.
If that doesn't happen, the TEA Party is going to be very disappointed. Either they will need to redouble their efforts within the Republican party, or they will abandon the Republicans for a third party. Either way, the "Establishment Republicans" lose. The question is, which path saves the country?
On November 2, 2010, I couldn't vote for anyone in my Congressional race. I left that line blank. My choices were a raving socialist (D) who thought Obamacare was "a good start that needs some tuning and adjustments," and a "Republican" progressive who had "experience" which consisted of doubling the size of a rural sheriff's department in 10 years (and also supported the extension of the Assault Weapons Bill back in 2004, and I could go on). There was no "smaller government" choice on my ballot, mostly because the "Washington Establishment" dumped hundreds of thousands of dollars in our district to defeat the "TEA Party" conservative candidate in the Republican Primary.
And don’t forget, most of the senate seats up in 2012 are Democrats. This is the best chance to control Congress in the next decade.
If the Republicans put up a polarizing figure who will not attract the right leaning independent voters it will be another six years before this chance rolls around again.
Ford pardoned Dick.
“Carter was horrid”
GHWB lied.
Obammy is a marxist liberal and America is not.
What is his job now and why will he lose it if Mrs Palin is elected?
RINO = SELLOUT/SOCIALIST = WITH AN R NEXT TO THEIR NAME
Sorry but to me this is worse because you get them elected only to be betrayed. At least with a Socialist/Communist we know what to expect.
I’ll NEVER vote for a RINO.
By 2012 the Tea Party phenonemum could well be triangulated and driven into a third party run in what could be the last gasp of the conservative grass roots movement. The Ascended 0nes’s re-election would then be assured. Rove is just stating the obvious opinion of those currently in power
I think about a week ago Tokyo was predicting Barry would be re-elected. The guy is becoming irrelevant.
And where do you think they will get the power to convince the senior Establishment Republicans to make a major change in the course? That is what will occur in State legislatures, not the Feds.
Didn’t you notice the RINO’s who have been appointed as committee chairman? The senior Establishment Republicans have no intention of steering us away from the NWO.
I think you are correct. I am solidly behind Sarah but I am not a dreamer. FReepers hate Rove because he is, as you said, just stating the obvious opinion of those currently in power.
We will never know, will we? The Republicans certainly spent much more money than we could afford and also agreed to various reforms that conservatives disagree with, but it is a far cry from the all-out assault on America that we have experienced from an extreme left president combined with a veto proof majority in the legislative houses.
I am convinced that McCain would not have permitted the gross piece of health care legislation that allowed for a vast new beaurocracy as Obamacare, the destruction of the Medical profession, the complete takeover of medical student loan industry, the defunding of the Medicare Advantage program and on and on and on.
I am also convinced that McCain would not have invited big labor into the White House and simply handed GM ownership to the Auto Workers while shafting investors. He certainly would not have defunded NASA, destroying thousands of NASA jobs in Alabama and Florida, and put overwhelming moratoriums on on off shore drilling in the gulf, destroying 26,000 Louisiana oil industry jobs.
As you might know, I have documented abuse of the progressivist white house and their Kabuki dance-crapfest (nachumlist.com) on our country, I believe that McCain would not have done a fraction of what they have done at a fraction of their expense. And- we have not even started talking about the havoc being wrought on our judicial system, justice dept., his attacks on Israel, insults to Britain, and the downgrading of our missile defense system including the START treaty. IMHO McCain would have done none of the above and neither would Huckabee, or Romney. The list of abuse is long and large, it would take a multi-book series to accurately document the criminal enterprise masquerading as the Obama administration.
That's why George W. Bush was so bad
George W. Bush was bad. Clinton was worse. Obama is worse than Clinton. If you are crtical of the budgets under George Bush senior, the budgets under Obama are those on steroids. It was the progressives that obstructed investigation into the banking crisis, and is their man Obama who is ripping us more by a factor of 10.
In politics, you rarely get everything you want. If conservatives allow Obama another 4 years because a RINO is their only option, I shudder to think how this country will look at the end of a second Obama term. I am not one of those who think it is beneficial to lose the White House because a liberal president unites the conservative base. The Obama administration has put facts on the ground that will take generations to undo.
