Sarah Palin has certainly sent clear messages that she's considering a bid for the White House in 2012. She has effectively said as much in interviews, and her actions speak quite loudly.
Her flurry of TV shows and appearances, hugely-attended public events, and a surprisingly well-articulated policy statement or two – such as the one on quantitative easing that won the Wall Street Journal editorial page's praise – all seem to be part of a strategy to show her leading on multiple fronts. A good trait in a president.
It may be difficult for people outside the United States to understand her appeal, but inside the United States, Palin represents much of what had people angry, organised and energised during the November midterm elections. She is different to what people feel is the problem: slick, soundbite-tested politicians who have made politics their career. People are tired of saccharine. Or, if you like, the arugula-eating elites identified with President Obama. They want burgers, red meat – something, and someone, "real American" they can relate to.
The ConservativeHome Republican Panel, released today in partnership with YouGov, gauges the opinion of more than 2,200 American conservatives, 69% of whom have given their money or time in the past four years to a political candidate. Overwhelmingly, those respondents reject President Obama's signature domestic reform: his healthcare law. When asked what they would most like to see the new Republican majority in the House of Representatives do, 88% said "repeal the healthcare law" (given a choice of three options out of 12). When asked what the new Republican majority can do to help advance their personal economic prospects, 66% said lower tax rates, 55% said promote rapid job growth, and 50% said make it easier to start small businesses....

‘None of the above’ gets my vote between the two of them.
I think that this site should never again run anything with romney, mcane, or grams name in it, just totally ignore them...and someone should tell hannity the same thing, he bends over for all of them, wonder if he gets a vasoline treatment.

People’s enemies say a lot about them. RINOs hate her. Establishment types hate her. The MSM hates her. Statists hate her. Not only do they hate her, they are petrified of her.
I will NOT vote for Romney.
I will vote for a third party if the RINOS push Romney on us, by allowing non Republicans to vote in the primaries. The ONLY reason, I voted for McCain was Palin on the ticket.
I compromised with Bush1, Dole, Bush2, and then McCain - NO MORE COMPROMISE with my vote.

The survey itself can be found here and is of voting conservatives. You can participate if you want and vote for as exciting and dynamic a candidate as you did last time - you know, Fred Thompson.
Who becomes more viable on a second, third or even fourth convention ballot. I don't know. Romney and his money can buy a LOT of arm twisting. OTOH, someone like Barbour (who knows where the bodies are buried, mostly because he buried them), will be owed A LOT of favors. Then there's the "vanilla" candidates like Thune and Pawlenty. No one loves them, but no one hates them and they don't make many enemies. That would help. Ask Warren Harding and Abe Lincoln. For these reasons, I think it's virtually impossible to predict who will actually secure the nomination. There are just too many variables.
Having said all that, I think Jindal as VP is more than even money - 1-3, perhaps. For the first time in a long time, the convention might actually be interesting to watch.

We have a few folks on Free Republic who aren’t exactly Palin friendly either.

Palin doesn’t do it for me. She’s a camera hog, has a grating voice, and I don’t think she’s electable.
I really appreciate it when lefty newspapers — particularly lefty newspapers from other countries that are going down the tube — go out of their way to advise me which of my party’s candidates would make the best president.
It helps me eliminate candidates who are inclined to want to comprise with subversives and narrows the field to those whose values are more likely to be congruent with mine.
Who would you like the nominee to be?
Romney is the WORST thing to ever happen to MA. We wanted a Republican governer and he ended up sleeping in bed with Ted Kennedy (probably litterally too). He’s not simply a RINO, he’s an all out Socialist.
Romney can’t win the primaries but a TEA party candidate can. It all depends on who is running. Romney has some people who really don’t like him at all. Many of them are in the South. After this next census realignment, the electoral votes, and therefore the delegates, will be in the South.
As for Jindal, he has Obama’s eligibility problem when it comes to VP. If the republicans want to spend the election arguing eligibility, they will lose a big advantage they have against Obama because they will be defending Jindal. Jindal’s parents were not citizens when he was born here. He may be a citizen, but he was not naturally born a citizen.
I heard a talk radio show today out of Boston.
The host, Howie Carr, said 77,000 people in Masachusetts have been fined for not having health insurance under RomneyCare.
