Top Republicans in Washington and in the national GOP establishment say the 2010 campaign highlighted an urgent task that they will begin in earnest as soon as the elections are over: Stop Sarah Palin.
Interviews with advisers to the main 2012 presidential contenders and with other veteran Republican operatives make clear they see themselves on a common, if uncoordinated, mission of halting the momentum and credibility Palin gained with conservative activists by plunging so aggressively into this years midterm campaigns.
There is rising expectation among GOP elites that Palin will probably run for president in 2012 and could win the Republican nomination, a prospect many of them regard as a disaster in waiting.
Many of these establishment figures argue in not-for-attribution comments that Palins nomination would ensure President Barack Obamas reelection, as the deficiencies that marked her 2008 debut as a vice presidential nominee an intensely polarizing political style and often halting and superficial answers when pressed on policy have shown little sign of abating in the past two years.
"There is a determined, focused establishment effort
to find a candidate we can coalesce around who can beat Sarah Palin," said one prominent and longtime Washington Republican. "We believe she could get the nomination, but Barack Obama would crush her."(continued)

OOOOOOOOOOOO I like that.
It’s “the old boys club”, versus “the American individual”! I am old enough to remember how bad Nixon looked on camera, in comparison to Kennedy! Just put John Boehner and Sarah Palin on the same video, and here they go, again! It’s just a bunch of long-time, possible closet RINOS being put out to pasture, and they don’t like it!
“That describes Zero.”

Yes, it does, far more closely than it describes Palin. Amazing, ain’t it? A Democrat is automatically a genius even if he sounds like Forest Gump. Danged, now I’m insulting Forest Gump.
Sounds to me like a buncha RINOs hell-bent to join the Whigs.
Good riddance to them all.
No $ from me.
No support, either.
I’ll go squirrel hunting—they can go hang.
Money.
Palin shows all sings of being a conservative populist, and not a fake one like GW Bush, the largest spending, largest debt, biggest government growth since LBJ. GW, or Romney, or some other not take on Wall Street, big fascists corporations that live off government favors, and......fake as in WWF...wrestle the Democrats.
Palin seems to believe what she is saying. It isn't a sales job like Mitt is buying and running. And, that is trouble. Big business wants easy flow money, printing presses, big gov and Republican butt boy President.
Next for TEA Party: Dismantling the GOP hierarchy!
Thank you! The best part about it... It is TRUE!
LLS
The Federal Government has become, in effect, a huge umanagable corporation and THE AMERICAN VOTERS JUST BOUGHT BACK THE COMPANY!!!!!
We are sending in new managers to purge, re-organize and perform only those functions that the Mission Statement (Constitution) allows. We want wasteful departments abolished. We are looking to name a new CEO in two years!
DEM and GOP paper shufflers need to start cleaning out their desks. There will be no jobs for thieves.
I think BO's White family indoctrinated him...not the Kenyan who wasn't around.
If the GOP kingmakers set their sights on Sarah Palin, it won’t mean the end of Sarah Palin, but it might well mean the end of the GOP.
Whoa, whoa, whoa...remember, this comes from Politico. It’s probably 50% fabricated, 30% quotes out of context, and 20% deliberate seeding of doubts by competing camps.
The goal of Politico is seed doubts, stir the pot, and create divisions among conservatives on the eve of an election.
1) Let’s wait to discuss this until 3 November.
2) Let’s not let the liberal media, particularly the insider political pol-cat media, manipulate us, play us, turn us against one another, or stir up cat fights.
They should have - DO HAVE - 0 credibility in discussing inside conservative baseball.
