My position is that it's not 1960 or 1980 anymore. Do you know that at for the longest time it was considered beneath the presidential candidates to actually campaign and they received visitors on their porch swings instead? Times change. What was Senator Bob Dole's Internet strategy in 1996? President Reagan didn't have Fox News in 1984. Plus, an outdoor series on Discovery isn't the same as Jersey Shore, Real Housewives or Jackass is it?

It isn't being marketed as an outdoor series. The trailers currently being aired show that it's also going to feature her home life, not unlike The Osbornes or Keeping Up With the Kardashians. It may not be as trashy as Real Housewives, but it ain't exactly Planet Earth, either. It's clearly being billed as a reality show about Palin's family life, not a documentary about Alaska.

If you think doing a reality show is a good idea for a Presidential candidate, then that's a valid position. I happen to think that it's a curious position for a conservative to take, but it's valid.

I fail, however, to see how Karl Rove is a RINO for holding the opposite view. If expecting a certain amount of seriousness and dignity from those who would be this country's Chief Executive is somehow incompatible with being a Republican, then I guess I'm in the wrong party.
