Sarah Palin Hits 'Virtual' Campaign Trail for Washington Senate Candidate Clint Didier
US Newswire ^ | August 14, 2010 | Kathryn Serkes

An extra push is coming from Sarah Palin for the Didier for Senate campaign in Washington State in the last four days of the primary.

About a half-million voters across the state will be getting a call from the former V.P. candidate urging them to vote for Clint Didier.

Palin's May 21 endorsement of Didier was one of her earliest endorsements this campaign season, calling him a "selfless, inspiring commonsense constitutional conservative who will help put our country on the right track."

Palin's recorded message calls Didier a "...a new kind of Republican. A true conservative dedicated to our nation's bedrock principles of limited government."

She goes on to take a swipe at the Party establishment: "Unlike establishment candidates who just talk about lower taxes, Clint has signed a pledge to do so."

Palin also launched a "moneyblast" in July to help raise funds for Didier.

Enthusiastic Didier supporters have also organized a 'virtual' phone bank across the state, calling voters with their personal 'get out and vote for Clint' messages. "This thing is going viral," said volunteer Sam Wilson of Snohomish County. "We call them to ask for their vote, and they volunteer to help make the calls!"

"I am so honored that Sarah Palin as well as so many grassroots supporters and volunteers are pulling out all of the stops to bring home this win for the State of Washington," said Didier.

NOTE:

Clint Didier, former 3-time Super Bowl champ with the Washington Redskins, returned home to Eltopia, Washington to run his family farm with his wife, Kristie, three sons and daughter. He's endorsed by Sarah Palin, Ron Paul and former state GOP chair Ken Eikenberry.

An August 1st Washington State Political Poll shows Didier leading his Republican opponents for a spot against Patty Murray.

What are Didier’s chances at this point, any polling?

Hard to catch accurate numbers they very so much from pollster to pollster, but Rossi’s numbers have ranged from 46 to 49 over the past several months of polling. Didier has ranged from 38 to 37, but some polls him also in low to mid 40’s. Rossi will do much better with the moderates, but Didier is king in the rural areas.

If the two sides don't tear each other up, the combined forces come August 18th should scare the pants off of Patty Murray.

Thanks for the information. My heart is with Clint Didier. I want him to win. Dino Rossi will be all right. Murray needs to be defeated. It’s a Boxer situtation. I loved DeVore. Now Fiorino needs to defeat Boxer and Fiorino is leading Boxer in the polls.

I might add, I’m sick of “moderates” deciding elections, but we’re talking your state and mine. It gets depressing. I’m trying to learn how to count blessings.

Those numbers are within the realm of doable, I hope that he succeeds.

If Didier doesn’t pull this one out, I hope he comes back in 2012 when Sarah has long skirt tails to take out that awful Cantrell. I’m going to keep that GOOD thought!

“I might add, I’m sick of “moderates” deciding elections, but we’re talking your state and mine.”

Speaking as one of the original Reagan Democrats. (my whole family were), You don’t reach new voters by running nasty down in the mud ads. They excite the base, but turn off the voters you don’t have yet. When the ad is over, you want them to say, “dang, that’s exactly what I feel.”
Not shifting to the Center, but finding ways the Center shifts Right.

Remember Reagan was behind Carter in the polls until Regan just asked them, “Are you better off than you were 4 years ago? They all had to say No. The polls shifted, and you know the rest of the story.

Come November, like it or not, those moderates are going to be needed. I hope whoever wins the GOP ticket understands that, and looks back at the Regan 1980 campaign.

It’s late here where I am in the great Magnolia state of Mississippi. I meant to say, I hate moderates deciding “primaries”, because I realize they decide general elections, although Independents can be and are quite conservative. I’ve followed Dino Rossi’s career and also Joe Miller after Sarah endorsed him. I was heartbroken when Rossi was robbed out of the governorship, so I’m not surprised that he’s getting his chance in this race.

It’s undeniable that Sarah has studied RWR and even his son, Michael, refers to her fondly as “welcome back Dad, who knew you’d be wearing a skirt?”. She has his ability to connect with consevatives and everyday people and to talk over the media that also held him in disdain. I have the utmost respect for Sarah and wish her only the best, no matter what future she determines she wants for herself and her family.

Thanks again for the good conversation and information.

Blessings and best wishes for a successful Republican win un WA state! Getting rid of Patty Murray will be a worthy of a full-out celebration!!!

Boy you were up late…. And Good for you for paying such close attention to races in other states. A lot of us will post opinions about other State’s races, but yet know little about the people running. Couldn’t pick them out of a line-up. Yet you know seem to know more about Rossi, Didier, and Patty Murray, than many of our locals.

I would be excited about either winning on Tuesday. Didier needs some polishing, but he does have the Palin endorsement, and she will probably be out here stumping for him. Rossi has the experience to run a successful campaign, but he didn’t jump into the race until a week or two after Palin gave the nod to Didier. If he would have been earlier he may have had the endorsement, who knows.

I have a Rossi sign on my front lawn, and a Didier sign in the garage ready to go up next Wednesday if that’s the way it turns out.

By the way, Mississippi was the first word my Dad taught us to spell. It was his ship in WWII and he was proud as hell of her and the crew. See my FR profile for his story.

I think the photo of Obama up on Drudge is telling. He’s looking weak, pale, tired, and drawn— just like someone who is doing the Ramadan fast.

I am hoping when Zer0 comes out here August 17th, it will leave a stench that will last until November.

I have talked to all three—Rossi, Didier and Ackers—and they all are supreme conservatives. All three would serve the people of Washington State well. I have had more contact with Rossi. So far he has played a very careful campaign; not stirring up any controversy. If Rossi had got into the race earlier, I am sure Palin would have endorsed him.

Wow, you’re right! I was up awfully late last night and I paif for it all day and evening because I completely forgot that I had to be up early to go out of town! I’m not going to stay but a minute, but I needed to reply to pings and update and welcome a new member to Sarah’s ping list.

Thanks for your kind reply to me. I have a very good feeling that Patty Murray, (second dumb to Boxer) will be defeated in November and although I hope Clint Didier defeats her, you all from WA state have assured me that Dino Rossi is a fine man too, and I remember him from the governor’s race.

Best wishes!

LOL. I hope so, too.

"Rossi playing it careful," by that do you mean he's appealing to the moderates or just running a clever campaign?

Nice to hear from you, jonrick.
