Don’t you love it when leftists try to pretend to be a right winger. Social conservative but pro government intervention in the economy makes you a left winger, not a right winger, of the Stalin type

The guy in that photo looks like the head of that UFO / suicide cult that killed themselves in California a number of years ago.

I agree! Newt has about as much charisma as Al Gore. IMO, he is not electable as POTUS because he is not likable. Unfortunately, many people in America will simply not vote for someone whom they do not like. His personal life would be open to criticism as well.

I’ve heard a lot of talk on FR about her credentials, yet I have no idea what these credentials are.

Mayor of Wasilla? Partial term Governor of Alaska? Hardly credentials. She should become a Senator first, learn how to govern, and then consider a run.

If Palin runs, she'll have to run the primary gauntlet first. Voters of all stripes will then have a chance to re-evaluate her and compare her with the latest big and little 'r' Republican hopefuls.

She may have been a newbie with regards to national exposure and national league political hardball, and it showed, but on a practical level, at least she had management experience and success, unlike Biden or obama.

That was then, this is now, and now she probably understands national politics and the Chicago way as well as or better than any potential Republican challenger.

And, we voters have had a lot of unfortunate experience with Biden and obama and the progressive's suicide.

It remains to be seen if she has improved her interview and debate skills. Still...if she decides to run against the probable opposition, it likely won't even be a fair fight. No one else has her charisma and no one drives the left as crazy: a winning combination.

And no one has her draw and star power. If she runs, more people will be paying attention to the primary that would normally, just out of curiosity. If she screws it up like the Couric interview, she'll fade away.

If she does well, the SRM won't be able to spin it and we'll see a Palin landslide in November.

Palin has never impressed me as much as she does many here. Her campaign finesse on the pregnant daughter’s forthcoming daughter - Sarah shoulda told us herself, and not let the news idiots break the story. Her appalling lack of preparation for the Gibson and Couric interviews, too... She seemed to go in expecting the Democrat newspeople to ask her the same kind of softball questions they asked the little, polite, black, apprentice senator, the one Biden called “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.” And then the resignation from Alaska - couldn’t stand the heat, got out of the kitchen.

So she falls short of my hopes, but not of my expectations. Because she’s a politician, and I expect to be disappointed by every politician.

“By way of disclosure, I fit the profile of the religious right - I am a social conservative with strong faith values”

No. He does not. People who are religious conservatives don’t use terms like “religious right”. It is a pejorative that he picked up from the Slimes or the Compost. He wrote this little hit piece to try to hitch his exceedingly dim star to Palin’s incandescent one a la Kathleen Parker.

It won’t work, Stanley. But there may be a bit part for you in the remake of Deliverance. You will need to grow a few tufts of hair though and learn to play the banjo. But your lack of mental acuity will be no problem.

from the sound of it, this guy hasn’t listened to/watched a THING from Sarah Palin since the Couric interview. His loss.

I am a social conservative with strong faith values

Anyone who would describe themselves as having "strong faith values" obviously doesn't.

With all due respect, just because one may have been a decent Governor doesn’t necessarily mean that one will be a good Senator. Look at Sarah’s predecessor, Frank Murkowski. He was a pretty decent Senator, but a lousy Governor. I.E. it was the reverse.

Yeah right. Newt already had his day in the sun. Also, if he were to run, look for the libs to use his having left his cancer-stricken wife against him.

At about the same time this photo was taken, with oh so clever newt proving how big he was to reach across the aisle on important things as man-made global warming, newt was waddling his fatass all over Sunday morning tv declaring that the war in Iraq was lost and that pres. Bush should admit he failed and join with harry reid and nancy pelosi and the Iraq Study group and depart Iraq with a defeated, humiliated military. I’ll be president before this wrong on everything, camera-craving history professor is ever elected.

Stan, this may come as a terrible shock to you, but it’s not 2008 anymore. It’s 2010. Could you at least try to write as if the last two years happened, instead of pretending they didn’t? Because if you can’t, if this represents the best Palin’s opposition can do against her going forward, just the same stuff as ‘08, but louder...you guys are screwed. Anyway, if you can try that, that’d be greaaaat. Thanks.

the reason you have no idea what her credentials are is because you’re stupid and lazy. The CEO of ExxonMobil knows what her credentials are.
