All three leading Democratic-Farmer-Labor candidates for governor hold firm leads over Republican endorsee Tom Emmer, a new statewide poll shows.
The poll also showed Gov. Tim Pawlenty's popularity has sunk to a new low.
In addition, it suggested Minnesotans are gloomy about the state of their state. A lopsided majority thinks the North Star state is headed in the wrong direction.
Decision Resources Ltd., of Minneapolis, conducted the survey of 800 Minnesota adults May 28-June 2. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
Among the three main DFL gubernatorial candidates, former U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton has the biggest lead over Emmer, 40 percent to 28 percent.
House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher, the DFL-endorsed candidate, led the GOP candidate, 38 percent to 28 percent.
Former House DFL Minority Leader Matt Entenza also topped Emmer, 34 percent to 27 percent.
Tom Horner, the Independence Party's endorsed candidate for governor, finished third in all three trial heats, receiving 17 percent to 19 percent of the vote.
Asked what the poll results mean, Decision Resources President Bill Morris said, "The bounce that Emmer enjoyed after the Republican convention is gone."

I'm no polling expert nor am I good at parsing these numbers but as you read thru the article, it looks like they oversampled Democrats.
This poll also stands in stark contrast to a poll done about a month ago that showed Tom Emmer leading all three major DFL candidates. Emmer has done nothing wrong since that last poll that could result in an evaporated lead. But I guess it begs the question: Was the previous poll too much in favor of Emmer and this new poll is accurate?

Denial doesn’t help. Fighting often does.
Humphrey, Ventura, Ellison, Frankenstein, need I say more?
GOP convention and commercials had name recognition up. Now, it's all about the DFL and their pick.
Come this fall, the commercials come back, maybe a couple of debates, the usual mud slinging by both Parties, and hopefully an Emmer win.
My opinion is Americans still want their freebies. Our expanding social welfare state is teetering on the brink of collapse, but almost half of Americans are more concerned about keeping their gravy train going.
Despite what we all wish, there is no evidence that American’s are ready to walk away from the nanny-state. Obama is still around 50% and Democrat’s have actually won most of the special elections for House seats including NY23 and PA12.
So yeah, I think the DFL could certainly win. I am not even all that confident that the GOP will do anywhere near as well in November as some people are predicting. I just see no reason of any sort of sea change in the public’s opinion of the role of government.
He needs to get his name out there. Put him on your Facebook page.
Given our total Rat legislature; if Emmer loses, Minnesota becomes Kalifornia Part Deux
Psyops eh?
Entenza is running campaign ads promising higher taxes. That doesn’t win votes even in this (politically) goofy state.
