Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court ruled today that Joe Vod Varka failed to get the 2,000 valid signatures required to be on the May 18 ballot for the Democrat Party senate primary election.

Vod Varka, a small business owner from Allegheny County, shocked the political establishment by appearing to get the signatures last March.

He describes himself as a conservative Democrat. He is against ObamaCare and has been an NRA member for 36 years.

I predict there will be a lot more “conservative” Democrats before November. I know one running for state representative and, too, is against Obamacare, loves the 2nd amendment, AND nuclear power! I have no doubt he’ll beat the RINO that occupies the seat already.

I dunno. This guy was certainly not getting directions from the party leaders.

It doesn't matter. He's the off the ballot and the two remaining are a hyper-lib and an opportunistic hack.

Why would a serious candidate try to qualify with signatures instead of paying the filing fee?

All candidates have to get signatures. If the party is behind you there is no problem circulating the petitions.

I think there are about half a dozen, but none under the age of 75.

OK, it is always bad to vote for a Dem.

When a Dem voter, however, mounts a late insurgent campaign because he thinks his party is too lib and almost gets on the ballot, that's a good thing.
