Palin for President?
The Wall Street Journal ^ | February 15, 2010

Posted on 02/14/2010 1:27:30 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Stuart Varney: This week on "The Journal Editorial Report," Sarah Palin's prospects, fresh from her tea party performance. Some say she doesn't have what it takes to be president, but do liberals mock her at their own peril? And the big climate crack-up. The cap-and-trade bill gets buried in the Washington, and the U.N.'s climate panel comes under fire for some faulty findings. Plus, the endgame in Iran. What's next for that self-described nuclear state? An internal revolution? An Israeli attack?

***

Varney: Welcome to "The Journal Editorial Report." I'm Stuart Varney, in this week for Paul Gigot.

First up, Sarah Palin's prospects. Fresh from headlining the first-ever national tea party convention, Palin told "FOX News Sunday" host Chris Wallace last week that she isn't ruling out a run for the presidency in 2012.

Sarah Palin: I would. I would if I believed that that is the right thing to do for our country and for the Palin family, certainly, I would do so. . . . I think that it would be absurd to not consider what it is that I can potentially do to help our country.

Varney: This, despite a new poll showing her unfavorable ratings up and her qualifications for president being called into question.

Joining the panel this week, Wall Street Journal columnist and deputy editor Dan Henninger, columnist and deputy editor Bret Stephens, and senior editorial page writers Joe Rago and Collin Levy.

All right, Dan, the polls suggest that we should count her out. Should we?(continued)

Wall Street and the Beltway may not like her, but many on Main Street and in the Heartland seem to.

I know who Varney is, but have no idea of who any of the others are. My guess, a bunch of nobodies who resent the fact that Palin came out of nowhere, and now has a large, loyal following. She’s not perfect, but then, no one is. She’s got an entire year before she has to decide on whether or not to run, then she has all of 2011 to campaign across the country. She’s essentially campaigning now, all of 2011, and at least half way through 2012. I’d be willing to bet that she will make vast improvements in the coming weeks and months. These guys will remain unknown and unimportant for the remainder of their lives.

Sarah even referred to the “heartland” when she was on Fox News (I believe it was with Sean Hannity)that her appeal to Reagan Democrats might not go over very well on the east coast or west coast but might sell in the “heartland”.

Many things can be said about Palin or many attributes can be assigned to her but one of her main political assets that she fully possesses is who her potential supporters are and who they are not and her desire to not waste any time wooing folks who would not vote for her even if she discovered a cure for cancer.

Thanks for posting the article.

the polls suggest that we should count her out.

Well, if the Pollocks won't vote for her, I guess none of us should.

First let me say that, I only fly on planes having two right wings. After that, I take the founding principles and founding fathers seriously.

Gov. Palin’s anemic response to Ms Couric’s question regarding SCOTUS decisions the she disagreed with left me nauseous. Dred Scott, with all the contradictions to John Locke’s writings, Plessy V. Fergusson, leading to the triple whammy of further extending the RECONSTRUCTION PERIOD for all people in the south, Jim Crowe Laws(de jure segregation), and in the north in particular, the rise of the segregated black ghetto(de facto segregation). Then Roe v Wade, a manufactured right to privacy that has led to the slaughter of many tens of millions of Americans. Was the purpose of Roe privacy or was its intent more malevolent than that? Reduce the live birth count by a number sufficient to gradually reduce the influence of we the American born with a somewhat different group of low or semi-skilled immigrants whose presence was made necessary by teh wanton slaughter of all the children.

How many of you have found you help call answered by some person in Bangalore or some place like that. Not enough Americans to do the jobs so they are outsourced.

Gov. Palin blew that question, then she muffed Bill O’Rileys soft ball “Who is your founding father?”

What am I to think? O’Bozo is worse by fifty orders of magnitude.

Help me like you enough to vote for you Ms Palin!! Please show me that you know something about our country, you aren’t from Kenya like O’Bozo. Good Grief, how can you make a right winger like me bolt for the door.

Right turns, tight lines

Varney: This, despite a new poll showing her unfavorable ratings up and her qualifications for president being called into question.”

Wrong on bot counts.
It's lazy journalism to keep quoting one fraudulent ABC push poll, that is quite different from every other Palin poll, and treat the fraudulent ABC poll as gospel and the definitive poll, and base all your analysis on it. Somewhere out there George Soros, who probably bribed the liberals in charge of ABC's polling, is having a hearty laugh.

She got my vote in 08.

I had to hold my nose because of the Juan McLame on the front of the ticket though.

Caddis -

Get your DNC talking points right. The question was asked by Glenn Beck, not O’Reilly.

Palin’s point was that so many men brought so many diverse experiences.

Among your heroines at PMSNBC, Mika’s favorite “founding father” is Lincoln and Contessa Brewer's is Bruce Springsteen.

Hello to you. Palin is a light weight who is able to completely discombobulate the left. It was not Beck, it was Bill who asked the question. Palin was so taken aback she looked like a deer in the headlights then finally replied George Washington.

As to my heroines, they aren’t in your list. Barbara and Laura Bush might be near the front along with Ms Reagan.

You are some sort of Dimrat lurker or an unlettered person who can’t find a place in SEIU or ACORN!!!

Post all the nasty comments you want to me. I’m a bit old for it but I can keep your skanky ill educated ass busy for half a day if you want to up the ante a bit. JUST HOW CLOSELY ARE YOU RELATED TO YOUR FATHER ON YOUR MOTJER’S SIDE OF THE FAMILY?

First of all, it was Beck who asked the founding father question. I love history & am sure I know more than the average person & yet, somehow, I had never given any thought to whom I would consider my favorite. I imagine most would be like me. To many of us her answer was just fine. Why would anyone have to have just one favorite anyway? I don’t have one favorite song, singer or movie so why would I have to close between Wasington, Jefferson, Adams, etc? Each had his role. I admire them all.

You win the prize for the most incoherent anti-Palin rant. Congrats.
