[Governor] Sarah Palin Calls on Obama to Fire Rahm Emanuel for Offensive Comment

Former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Monday called for President Obama to fire his chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, because of an offensive comment he reportedly made.

At an August strategy session of liberal groups and White House aides, the Wall Street Journal recently reported, Emanuel told liberals they were "F-ing retarded" for planning to air attack ads against conservative Democrats opposed to health care reform.

Palin, whose youngest child has Down Syndrome, said in a Facebook note that "our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm's recent sick and offensive tactic."

"I would ask the president to show decency... by eliminating one member of [his] inner circle, Mr. Rahm Emanuel, and not allow Rahm's continued indecent tactics to cloud efforts" to debate important issues, she wrote.(continued)

“our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm’s recent sick and offensive tactic.”

...yeah BO doesn’t need Rahm for “sick and offensive tactics”! He’s sick and offensive enough for both of them.

Go Sarah! Rahm is a sick man, then again, Obama’s entire admin is sick. Fire them all Obama, and then resign. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Just keep hammering the issue! I'm sure that it wont cause him to be dismissed as it would were these clowns Republicans but it's worth the effort to keep railing about it and keep the commie bastards off their game.

This tactic should also be employed in the 2nd Amendment arena. Conservatives ought to introduce a continuous stream of bills calling for mandatory gun ownership or universal concealed carry rights. Let those who would take anothers rights spend their time and money putting down these measures as we've had to constantly defend ourselves against their attacks on our rights.

Is this serious? Is the party of conservatives, who have spent years arguing that people should be allowed to use the language without being falsely accused of being racists, or sexists, or whatever, is now going to be the party of “me-to”?

Nobody thinks Rahm was trying to denigrate handicapped people. If every republican who ever called a democrat retarded had to be fired, none of the republicans would have jobs.

THis is just Political Correctness, and I don’t want it on our side. Go after Obama for his “special olympics” comment, because that WAS an offense against disabled people. Go after Al Gore for denigrating an entire political party by calling them the “extra chromosone” party, a clear down’s syndrome reference.

But don’t pretend that Emmanuel was attacking disabled people by calling republicans retarded. Attack him because he attacked Republicans, not because of a non-existent offense against disabled people.

Or in this case, he was calling liberals retarded. Which I’m pretty sure we could find in regular use around here.

At best, we’ll get an apology from Rahm, which will just reinforce the idea that if a Republican says something like this, we’ll be forced to apologize for it.

Your posts 5 & 6 are the ONLY cogent things I have read on this forum regarding this bogus kerfuffle.

For example, don’t we have a word: “Libtard”, which means “liberal retard”? Michael Savage uses “liberal Retard”.

Every day you’ll find multiple comments here at FR using the words “liberal retard”, “retarded liberals”, “she’s a retard”, and the like, when referencing liberals.

What’s worse is that the left was already attacking Rahm for his statement, because it was an attack on them. Rahm was going to apologize for it, because he upset his base.

But now we have “justified” the political correctness.

I'm a big Sarah fan, but this time she went seriously astray. Rahm is repulsive, but whining about how he is mean to retarded people surrenders way too much ground to the enemy. No conservative should be getting mixed up in the politics of victimhood. That's the exclusive territory of the loony left. Shame on you Governor. Take a deep breath and try to separate your personal situation from your political judgment.

That isn’t the point at all.

The Progressives (read:Communists who now control the Democratic party) have set the tone for some time by bringing pressure to bear on otherwise normal-speaking people when they are caught mis-speaking. Often Draconian retribution is demanded as proper penance for such a crime. (Remember, THEY have defined the crime!)

Now, as a previous poster points out, the culprit, being a Progressive himself, is being called to carpet for this offense, Alinsky-style. It is, in a word, poetic justice.

The idea here is to get a reaction from the Progressives that can be held up for public scrutiny, ridicule, and laughter.

The message should be clear to anyone with two brain cells to rub together - the old days and the old ways are gone, and two can now play this game.

We already know what the Progressives are made of. Now, we want to (and can) show the rest of the world so they can watch as new Guardians Of What’s Right In America stew in their own juices.

You might call this the New Politics born of the Tea Party movement. Ain't nothin' wrong with that.

What’s sauce for the goose must be sauce for the gander. We have an election coming up in just over 9 months that is probably going to be the most important in modern American history, and it’s going to be bloody and ugly. This is just something to prep the field a little in advance.

Embrace it, and enjoy it.

Because politics IS a blood sport!

CA....

Did you object when Freepers criticized Obama for describing his bad game of bowling as being like "the special Olympics"?

Here's the thread. It's 387 posts long. There was no Charles on that thread and there was not even one so-called objective person on that thread lecturing the Freepers about falsely accusing Obama of being insensitive.

What is different?

Poetic justice doesn't matter to the oh-so "objective" ones when it envolves Sarah.

I’m not so sure how I feel about this. Us whining about the other side using “offensive” words only gives credence to them doing the same thing to us. I think if we just ignored such things it would make them look more like crybabies.

As if the Resident is going to fire Rahmmie the Enforcer. Sarah should not let herself be perceived as a nitpicker or whiner, not any more. Vicious journalists are probably already pointing out nasty remarks made by Repubs—McCain could certainly qualify.

A reference to the special olympics is pretty clearly referencing disabled kids. And he was taking his really bad performance, and saying it was like “special olympics”, which had no interpretation other than saying that special olympics is a bunch of really bad performing kids.

Which is a direct attack on the handicapped, as well as being false, because I am certain that if there is bowling in the special olympics, they are doing a LOT better than Obama will ever do.

Rahm was not making a statement about handicapped people by the use of the word “retard”, he was attacking liberals for being stupid. Yes, because the word “retard” used to be applied to disabled kids, suggesting they were stupid, some people will complain about the use of the word, but if the problem is that “retard” means “stupid”, what’s the problem with using it to describe real stupid people, as opposed to the handicapped?

If I really believed that Emmanuel was making a statement about the handicapped, the criticism would be valid to me. But it is clear he was talking about stupid senators who he saw as shooting themselves in the foot.

And in that context, not being allowed to use ‘retard’ is simply a political correctness issue.

Charles, you're rationalizing.

The Obama comment and the Emanual comment are similar.

The word "retarded" can describe a disabled person but it can also pejoratively describe a non disabled person who is acting stupidly.

The phrase "Special Olympics" can describe what are special games for disabled people but it can also pajoritively describe non disabled people acting clody.

There isn' a dimes worth of difference between Obama's usage of the phrase "Special Olympics" and now Emanuel's usage of the word "retarded". Yet, as I pointed out to you, there was a thread about Obama and his comment that was 387 posts long and there was no Charles on that thread and there was not even one "concerned" and "objective" person on that thread lecturing the Freepers about "falsely accusing Obama of being insensitive".

So much for objectively when Sarah is involved.
