Romney On Fox: Not Intimidated By Palin's Crowds; Obama Should Be More Like Clinton
The Atlantic ^ | January 6, 2009 | Chris Good

Mitt and Ann Romney sat for an interview with Fox News that aired this morning (video after the jump). Here are some nuggets of interesting material:

When asked if he's intimidated by the big crowds and book sales Sarah Palin drew on her "Going Rogue" tour, as he prepares to embark on his own in March to promote his upcoming book, "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness", the former governor says he's not: "Oh no, not at all, it's great--that's terrific news. I'm glad to see people are buying books from conservatives."

(VIDEO AT LINK)

More on Palin: "She is a great, energizing member of the party. She has good ideas that have galvanized a lot of support for the party, and she's a welcome addition."

Asked about presidential ambitions, Romney said he'll decide after the 2010 elections whether or not he'll run: "You know, you really don't think about that until the time comes when you need to make a decision. It's always a possibility, and you keep the options open, but you concentrate on the task ahead. For me, that's trying to get some good people elected in 2010, and then I know once that's done, the next item on the agenda is: what's 2012 gonna be? Ann and I will give that some thought and make the decision then."

Romney says President Obama should be more like President Clinton, when asked about Obama's fallen approval ratings: "You know, I had higher hopes for him. I knew he was a smart individual. I thought that he would learn that governing from the middle was the right way to go, as President Clinton learned in his second term...(continued)

What an excellent communicator, leader, and adult.

This is a person with the experience that I have been waiting for since Reagan.

Romney On Fox: Not Intimidated By Palin’s Crowds;

Translation:

He’s petrified and more importantly loathes,Palin and her supporters.

His supporters working for Mccains presidential run in 2008 did everything they could to derail Palin.

The thing to realize here ... it is Romney's way to stand in the middle and mollify his opponents. ‘another go along to get along’ or like John McCain that endorses what he previously excoriated.

God help us, from our republican leaders’ actions that actually are weak foolish, self serving, and greedy, forgive us our sins, help us to be more in the image of Christ, in Jesus name, amen.

Mitt may be morphing again, from faux, newly repented conservative to the welfare loving, establishment Republican he has always really been. Maybe he figures he can’t run form Mittcare, so join the losers. He is going to have to run as a liberal because he can’t get away from it now.

Give it up Mitt. Help Sarah win.

Welcome Back, Dad

I've been trying to convince my fellow conservatives that they have been wasting their time in a fruitless quest for a new Ronald Reagan to emerge and lead our party and our nation. I insisted that we'd never see his like again because he was one of a kind.

I was wrong!

Wednesday night I watched the Republican National Convention on television and there, before my very eyes, I saw my Dad reborn; only this time he's a she. And what a she!

This was Ronald Reagan at his best -- the same Ronald Reagan who made the address known now solely as "The Speech," which during the Goldwater campaign set the tone and the agenda for the rebirth of the traditional conservative movement that later sent him to the White House for eight years and revived the moribund GOP.
Welcome back, Dad, even if you're wearing a dress and bearing children this time around.

~Michael Reagan, syndicated talk show host and son of President Ronald Reagan

Please....

Romney is no Reagan....

Romney may as well be fiddling while the U.S.A. burns...with comments like, "Obama should be more like Clinton".

If you think for one minute that Reagan would have said that...then you are delusional.

Gov. Palin is like Pres. Reagan.

Romney is like .... a chimera of Joe Isuzu and Benedict Arnold.

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Poor sport spoiler Romney attacks other GOP candidates:

Novak: "Fred Thompson drop-out rumors traced to Romney campaign"

Said Novak: "The rumors were traced in part to Mitt Romney's campaign,
trying to stir up strife between McCain and Thompson
."

"Despite outspending his rivals by huge margins throughout the primaries,
(Mitt Romney, Carpetbagger UT,CA,MA,NH,Mexico) lost Iowa, South Carolina, Florida and California.
The only primaries he won were in Michigan, where Dad was governor; LDS states;
and a few states on Super Tuesday in which his California-obsessed rivals
couldn't spare the cash to advertise.
Only John Connolly in 1968 had a worse cash-to-delegates ratio.
And John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries.
(W)hen (Romney's early leads) started slipping away, he resorted to unfair,
distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't
afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges."
