Pennsylvania's congressional delegation will drop by one to 18 according to census estimates. This will be exactly half the number of congressmen the Keystone State sent to Washington in 1930.

You didn’t answer my question. So, if I go out to my street what exactly do I do?
Scream at traffic?
Throw snowballs at passing cars?
Burn Obama effigy in middle of the road?
Moon passing cars?
Exactly what do we do when we “take to the streets?”
We organize demonstrations and protests...more tea parties and more marches on Washington and protests at the capitols of any and all states that are a threat to the US Constitution.
“Take to the streets” was a phrase in the 1960’s which indicated any action from “spontaneous” demonstrations, to sit-ins, to organized protests at major political spots.
“We are counting on you to liberate us.”
Sorry, too far. But ALL FReepers are welcome to homestead here, in preparation for “that day”.
“Will you be accepting applications from other states? I think you may have some that are interested.”
You guys are borderline...a bit far for us to reach, but still a mostly-friendly place. Perhaps a compromise - you guys join us in New America, but leave Atlanta in Old America...via a connecting strip to TN.
Exactly right! ACORN will “find” illegals and dead people to add to census counts and avoid/minimize any “free election” problems for the marxists.
as per my tagline
It's a dream to move there, but I fear I will wind up in the underground or in a camp.
So should that day come remember the immortal words of Tom Eckert and AVENGE ME!
Van Hilleary deliberately stayed in that race precisely to keep Bryant from winning.
I grew up in that liberal town. Homestead, PA.
All the steel mills are gone because of the unions but there is a wonderful high level shopping center next to the Homestead Grays Bridge where you can now get mugged or worse.
Just wondering, is there one, just one steel mill remaining in Steeler country?
I was rather disappointed more quality people didn’t run for Governor. Of the 4 lead R’s, 3 are totally unacceptable (Country-Clubber RINO gun-grabber Haslam, grandstanding phony Wamp & Gibbons (the latter of whom a fellow FReeper warned me about in his subpar performance as Shelby County D.A.)), that leaves Lt Gov. Ramsey as the sole acceptable candidate (although I’m not exactly “on fire” for him). I had hoped Marsha Blackburn would’ve run. It would’ve been hers to lose.
As for the 6th, I expect we’ll have a good candidate come out of it. I’m supporting (although can’t vote in the district, since I’m in the 5th) Sen. Jim Tracy. I don’t have anything negative to say about Diane Black, though. It’s nice to be able to have several quality candidates that whomever wins the primary, you can support without hesistation in the general. Sen. Black is probably going to have some difficulty, though, at least with respect to the fact party operatives and the fundraising people are going with Tracy (it was Tracy who pushed Bart Gordon out of the race, Bart didn’t want to face him).
How Black could prevail in an upset is if the two South-end of the district candidates (Tracy and Lou Ann Zelenik) split the vote and allow Black as the North-end candidate to win a plurality (we have no runoffs, as you know).
One thing, though, I expect the GOP to undo the horrific gerrymandered lines of all the districts in the state (especially the ones from the 4th through the 8th) and make them more compact and contiguous. If Tracy wins, it will make it problematic, because both he and Marsha Blackburn ought to be in the same district (Williamson and Rutherford Cos. should be, at least, meaning all the South-of-Nashville counties). The North-of-Nashville counties should be in another Congressional district and include Clarksville and the other rural areas. Essentially the 6th and 7th districts should be chopped up and reconfigured. The 6th was designed exclusively to keep Bart Gordon in his seat (why they axed Williamson County, which caused him to nearly lose in the ‘90s). The 7th was designed to jam pack every Republican voter possible from West Memphis/West TN clear through to Williamson County. It’s an offensive creation that was meant to keep both Bart Gordon and John Tanner from losing while having the Republican occupant win by an obscene margin, Republican numbers that were needed in those other districts.
It’s going to be pretty remarkable to see what our people will come up with to drastically increase our representation in both the federal delegation and in the state legislature. To get an idea of how badly disenfranchised the GOP voters in this state have been, we’ve been winning the majority or plurality of the vote for offices for almost 2 decades, and thanks to Dem-drawn lines was the only reason why the voting minority was able to win a majority of seats. Using our majority-voting numbers, we could conceivably draw a 2/3rds+ GOP majority in the legislature, and a 7-2 Republican majority in the U.S. House delegation (up from our 5D-4R minority we now have). The Dems are understandably panic-stricken what we’re going to do to them, and boy do they have it coming.

Oh . . . I'll have to flee Atlanta, when the rioting starts after the suspension of social services.
I have a lake house in the Florida panhandle. I anticipate the panhandle being annexed by Alabama. So I envision maybe a new nation of portions of the Southern states.
I like the name, "New America," by the way . . .
Texas can provide energy. Alabama can provide automobiles (with all of those manufacturing plants).
Diane is my state senator so I know more about her than the other two, therefore until I see something very convincing otherwise I will support her. The only problem I see with her running is joanne graves will try to regain that senate seat, I haven't heard for sure but I am assuming that Debra Maggart will run for the seat. The real zoo in this state will be the race card being played against cohen down in Memphis.
God, I hope it’s Philadelphia’s.
I’d give up my congressional representation to keep out the animals this place elects.
Actually, a RINO Governor could be worse (look at how awful our last one was). With a Dem Governor, we can effectively enact policy without their input (reducing them essentially to a figurehead), and we could also strip them of other powers (such as appointing a Senate vacancy). I’ve since passed the point of giving rubber stamps to RINOs. I voted against Lamar! in ‘08 (not for the Dem, for the “None of the Above” candidate), and won’t be voting for Corker again. I’m sick of the Country-Clubber elitist set hijacking the major offices in this state. I have as much in common with them and their agenda as I do with the leftist moonbats.
Good point about Diane Black were she to win, although I think it would be exceedingly harder for a Dem like Graves to win the seat because these districts are becoming more GOP each successive year. Maggart would probably have the edge (and overwhelming resources) over Graves.
As for the 9th district race, that may not be nearly as high-profile a race as you might think. The Black Dems in the district played the race card to the hilt against Cohen in ‘08, and a candidate initially expected to beat him, Nikki Tinker, ended up crashing and burning because she made race almost the exclusive issue. King Willie may similarly crash by those identical proportions (according to fundraising records on Open Secrets, he doesn’t have any money, and Cohen is fully-funded). Cohen is actually WAY too leftist for the district. Even Junior Ford was voting rather moderately (although I think that was more to keep himself viable for a statewide race), and despite the notorious Herenton’s bombast, he is to the right of Cohen.
Take care
Have fun.
I was thinking the same thing.
Please let it be Murtha
