Yeah right and I’d have a recognizable of .000000000000000001%.... We really need to concentrate on going after people like Harry Reid... and bang on people like Grassley — who was just re-elected — to wake up before they totally sell our healthcare down the tubes... McCain isn’t likeable, but he does vote the right way most of the time... we really need to get out heads straight and go after the redzone issues...

With any luck, McCain will lose to a strong republican contender in the primaries. Hopefully, they’ll retain the seat.

Polls can be misleading for several reasons.

1. Only a tiny percentage of a population are polled.
2. Pollsters can target a group of people they know will respond to questions in a certain way.
3. Questions can be structured to elicit a specific response.
4. Pollsters can disregard answers they dislike.

“Polls can be misleading for several reasons.”

Good point. It’s important to look at the methodology employed - agreed. But polls can also tell us important information and are not always based on manipulation.

For instance, doesn’t your gut agree with the findings of this poll - about half the country is really willingly ignorant about what socialism is?

Our task is set out before us - whether these numbers are 10 or 20 points off or not. But I hear what you’re saying about polls and we need to often treat them like we treat the MSM - with GREAT caution and general disdain because of their manipulation.

Only 50%??? Just what will it take before Republicans finally get enough of this RINO? This does not bode well for a primary challenger.

Neither am I... but he is better than a democrat. I don’t like what Obama is doing to this country a whole lot more than I don’t like McCain who is voting against all of Obama’s follies.

JD will not oppose McCain. McCain controls the apparatus here in AZ. There is some people who would be much stronger than JD (like Shaddeg) who could probably win, but will not take the chance unless they no longer want a career in AZ politics as if McCain won he would crush the person who opposed him. I don’t like McCain, but until he decides to retire it is him or a democrat and right now I’m not liking any democrats in this country.

The problem is, McCain is a symptom of what’s wrong with the entire party - we think we have to capitulate to the middle. We don’t have to do that - we can stand up and be the strong base in this party (and must). Dims don’t worry about such - whether it’s the ‘centrist’ Clinton (centrist my butt) or anyone else further left - they’re always pushing leftward.

McCain may be voting against some of dear leader’s agenda, but the RINOs have ensured the conservative voice is anemic, weak and ignored - instead of vibrant, alive and presenting a true alternative to obammy and comrades.

So you — speaking from democrat Washington State think we need to turn Arizona into a blue state like your own because you dislike McCain who, as unlikeable as he may be, consistently votes conservatively???? Is that what you are suggesting?

McCain is indicative of the national problem we have.

Are you like me? If so, you can tell a politician from a block away.

Our tea party was held at our local Congressman’s office. The fellow who is going to run against him was there, with signs and there was no “R” to be found on the signs. When the politician came over to us, the lady next to us said, “So what party are you?”

He looked at her sign and said, “Are you a Ron Paul supporter?” She nodded. He said, “I have libertarian tendencies!” I laughed and almost choked. This guy is a Republican and am I supposed to be encouraged? Because...what a weasely answer.

I said, “I’m an embarrassed Republican.”

I said, “I don’t know where all the political leaders have gone...all the politicians have become the same. Look at our own state, for example.”

He said, “Well, I have a motto that we’re gonna take Illinois from the Land of Stinkin’ back to the Land of Lincoln!”

I said, “You’d better remember this is the land of Reagan too.” And he said, “Oh...YEAH!” Like it had never occurred to him probably because it hadn’t.

And then he said, “Well...I should probably think about going. I’ve been here too long. My campaign manager’s going to kill me.”

And I thought, “That’s the guy I want. The one who’s scared of his campaign manager.”

This country has a history of birthing GREAT leaders...but lately, it just seems we have “politicians” under grow-lamps.

And with all due respect, Carolyn...I don’t think that’s what Bruce is saying.

I’m in Illinois. Ours is a true blue state. That doesn’t mean I’m a Democrat.

Well, what you both are recommending is we jetison McCain -- who votes the right way 90% or more of the time -- because you don't like McCain.... and that leaves one alternative a democrat.

Clearly since you both live in blue states you have lost sight of what it is like to live in a red state -- which Arizona is. Perhaps this explains why the senators from both Washington State and Illinois are as blue as you can get... but, thank you no... Arizona is still red and still conservative and with any luck will remain so for the foreseeable future no matter what people in the more liberal states would have us do down here...

IF there was a better conservative running in the primary against McCain I would consider voting for that person, but Simcox is not that person, so I will vote for McCain in the primary and in the general election... and most everyone I know will do the same.

Carolyn... a poll suggested that the party has lost confidence in McCain. I just commented that I wondered if he would do a Specter.

What you want to do is subtly insult FR members who are unfortunate enough to live in blue states and you want to cheerlead for McCain and point out Arizon’s Red superiority.

I see that.

People on this thread have suggested that McCain’s bigger engine there is suppressing conservatives who might like to run against him. That’s too bad, I think.

and I pointed out that McCain is no where near a Specter and if those of you saying he is would take time to actually look at his voting record you would know that. Frankly I don’t like McCain, but I also don’t like the crap Obama is doing to this country and given that McCain votes conservatively I will not hesitate to vote for him and if people in blue states don’t like that we return him for another six years form Arizona...too bad... at least he will vote against the Obama doctrines more often than not.
