Indiana is still updating its website and it appears that McCain's lead is growing.
“Indianapolis & the peoples republik of Bloomington have not reported their results to the SOS yet.”
Ah, that’s why. OK. That’s where the difference in favor of Obama will come. Too bad — I had some hope of a post-election flip to McCain.
This was not a contest of ideas. It was evident that it was a playground tit for tat between a young thug who punches an old guy and the old guy continues to be nice in the hope that the thug won’t punch him anymore. When you’re running for the job of “Leader of the World”, its no-holds-barred. McCain couldn’t/didn’t figure that out until it was too late. The punch drunk boxer routine.
Also handicapping McCain... Ann Coulter summed it up pretty well... McCain is/was Obama with an (R).
The best thing for McCain would be to retire. He doesn’t need the money or the celebrity, but he won’t. His ego won’t let him... he actually believes Obama when he was told that his knowledge and experience is needed to help the country. Little does he know that Obama thinks McCains an old chump.
CNN’s numbers appear to be accurate to this point. I don’t have any reason to doubt them based on the SOS results otherwise. It just seems that the two counties Obama had big margins in will be last to be certified.
In my opinion, there should be no exit polling and no reporting of results until ALL counties have reported and been certified. There is a nationwide tradition of Dem-heavy counties waiting till they are dead last to see if they can manufacture enough votes for victory.
No argument from me
Seriously - despite our pockets of liberal idiocy (such as Marion, Lake, Monroe counties) we really do have some good conservative people here.
And we have Mike Pence! (unfortunately, I am mis-represented by a 'rat named Elsworth.)
They always do that in close races. I have been in/following politics for going on 50 years and the first time I remember this happening was in '60 when the Nixon-Kennedy contest. Kennedy's people kept calling Chicago and asking Daly about Cook Co., which, naturally, hadn't finished reporting yet. He kept telling them he "guaranteed" they'd have enough votes to put Kennedy over. Guaranteed? Cripes, the guy is practically advertising his fraud. Same in WA state in '04 with the governor's race. It's already happened this year in OR. It's happening as we speak in MN.
It should be a law that cities have to report first. If they don't, then no results reported until everything had been sent in to the Sec. of State, and then release all results at once. None of this "late reporting" crap.
I suspect the SOS gets the data, sends it to CNN, and updates the website very casually as a near zero priority.
The critical event is “certification”. The SoS certifies results when sure they are as they should be. The website has no legal standing whatsoever.
BTTT
“What is in indiana worth caring about.?”
Me!!!
The actual vote numbers come from a central vote center that the media contributes to. The state site can have a different number depending on how often or when the number is updated.
“Believe me, not just rats. Every other lawyer in America would be there
That, sir, is what you call “redundancy”
Oh, Republicans have plenty of lawyers.
One of the counties yet to report is Marion County, population over 800,000.
It appears all counties are in the total except for two blue ones - Marion (Indianapolis) and Monroe (Bloomington - home of Indiana University)
According to Marion County Clerk Beth White’s office (also a ‘Rat) the margin is 106,000 in favor of BHO. Unless there’s a ton of votes that turn out invalid or canvasses turn out large discrepancies then Indiana has in fact gone blue.
Unfortunately. And it’s Marion County’s fault it went there.
Actually it looks like 60-40 right now in Marion County. However what is more interesting is 46% of the electorate did NOT turn out for this. The Dems had every reason to turn out which means the GOP did NOT turn out the vote like we should.
Marion County’s GOP still has a lot of work ahead of it.
As of 5:13 pm on 11/9/08 (Sunday), McCain appears to have about a 100,000 vote advantage. Have you heard any official word??
That is enough to tip the whole thing over.
There are three counties outstanding - Monroe and Marion, which are heavily Democratic this time around, and Posey, which is small but went 2-1 for Bush last time.
The numbers from Monroe and Marion would put Obama over the top, but the fact that they are taking so long to be certified makes me wonder if there aren’t some issues with the numbers. Monroe (Bloomington) and Marion (Indianapolis) probably had a ton of provisional ballots that may have been fraudulent, especially given how those counties went last time. ACORN may have been operating in those areas, so until the official numbers are posted it’s anybody’s guess.
I’m not optimistic, though.
