Affair allegations rock TN state Senate race

ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. - A Republican candidate in a campaign central to GOP efforts to gain a majority in the state Senate next session has been accused by a member of his party of having an extramarital affair with her.

Republicans have expressed confidence that Church Hill attorney Mike Faulk could oust Sen. Mike Williams, who left the GOP last year to become an independent and sometimes sides with Democrats on key votes.

A victory by Faulk on Nov. 7 in the rural, conservative and overwhelmingly Republican state Senate District 4 would be key for the GOP in breaking a 16-16 tie with Democrats in the upper chamber.

But his campaign is facing unexpected trouble because the chairwoman of the Hawkins County Young Republicans has circulated a letter discouraging other Republicans from supporting Faulk, saying he had an affair with her during the race and criticizing him for repeatedly denying it.

So a recently divorced man is being accused of denying that he had an affair with a woman who is going through a divorce. And the claims of both the affair, and of the denial of the affair, are from her.

This is a big “he said, she said” deal, and it seems odd that someone who is in the middle of it keeps trying to make it more and more public.

“Blackmail denied” is my take on it.

“he had an affair” with me??.....sounds like this woman thought that the affair was done to her, and she had absolutely nothing to do with it.....pathetic....

There seems to be a movement in the Tennessee Republican party to become more ‘no holds barred’ democratesque slear oriented. The Johnson City Mayor, Phil Roe used dirty politics to unseat David Davis for the nomination in my district for U.S. Congress. Roe is a good’olboy crook who fed lucrative contracts to his donors, while he accused Davis of ‘taking money from “big oil” to help him in campaigning’, as if that were immoral! It may be that there are democrats in the Pubby party in East Tennessee because the deceitful democrats can’t get elected as democrats and we know democrats are immoral bastards who will do anything, say anything, steal anything they think will empower themselves. Phil Roe is a dirty opportunist who will not be trustworthy in the U.S. Congress. He’s going to Washington to become wealthy.
