It’s amazing how hard Senator McCain is willing to work to convince me how unfit he is to be president.
Just think, if not saddled in the GOP with Scarface as nominee, we would not have to suffer all these indignities. We are so screwed. Any way you put it.

Not only that he needs to take speech lessons like Hilary did.
Let me say again how much respect I have for the man and his service to our great nation, but I have a hard time seeing him in the oval office.
Some parts of a person's personality are just too deeply ingrained to be overcome and I fear from the courage he showed as a POW that what we see is what we'll get. That scares me!
Dammit, I want a cheerleader for President. Someone who'll tell it like it is, but point out that taking it like it is and making it better is what America has been about for 200 years.
Regardless of McCain’s response to Gramm, it was still pretty damn stupid of Gramm to make the remarks he did while we have $4-plus gasoline, rising food costs, and foreclosures threating the the economic security of even sensible homeowners. It might have made more sense for Phil Gramm to make such comments a few years ago when the Rats were talking doom and gloom, but right now, it just looks completely out of touch to a lot of people in this country.
I thought McCain was supposed to be a war hero but now find that he's really a paper tiger when it comes to standing up to liberals in public.
He may well have withstood torture at the hand of the Chi/Coms; VC Coms, etc. but surely is unable to stand up to "threats" of liberal retaliation in America 2008.
My statement to John is, "Get a pair John and buck up boy! It's going to get tougher than this and thank God that Hillary isn't your candidate to beat."

That was why the Republicans nominated Mc Cain. To ensure that the Democrat would win. Only they thought Hillary was going to be the Democrat nominee.
I was having the same thoughts. I was strongly for Romney and I thought then, and still think, he would have made a MUCH, MUCH better candidate than McCain. At least Romney doesn’t genuflect every time a Democrat criticizes Conservatives. Romney fights back. McCain falls all over himself saying how sorry he is that one of his staff said something mean and nasty. It’s sickening.
I’m getting to the point where I’ve lost most of my enthusiasm for this election and to where I think that hey, let Obama win. Then we’ll see if he screws things up so badly, the GOP will unite behind a conservative, next time.
If McCain doesn’t pick either Romney, Palin, or Pawlenty as his VP, I’m done with the whole thing.

Phil Gramm is right. A lot of the problem is psychological. After all, wasn’t Roosevelt just addressing the psychological aspects of the Great Depression when he said “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”.

I've been saying for months, that the economy has slowed because this election has been so damn long. People are unsure how or if they should spend money, while they wait to see who's going to be the president, the next "taxing" authority.
Of course McCain could never express that thought, since hes been running for president for over a decade.
