Somebody needs to tell Oberweis to get the hell out of the way. Lauzen can take the seat back easily.

The problem is I and others have spoken with Senator Lauzen on the phone and he doesn't want to run under these circumstances. He says the seat going Republican was a foregone conclusion until Oberweis spent millions of dollars in the primary trashing Lauzen's record and now Lauzen is in severe campaign debt after competing with a self-funded millionaire in the primary and would be forced to run against an incumbent RAT with only a few monthes to prepare. Lauzen says Oberweis left the 14th District Republicans in total disarray and doesn't want to try and clean up Oberweis' mess at the 11th hour. Oberweis barrage of anti-Lauzen ads also drove up Lauzen's negatives, before the ugly primary fight Lauzen had a 70% approval rating in the district.
If Oberweis dropped out, I'm told the "only moderates can win crowd" at the IL GOP would likely slate RINO Genava Mayor Kevin Burns (who dropped out of the primary when he couldn't compete) to run in November.
I'm not sure which is worse, Oberweis or Burns.
