Just when you think it cant get any worse, liberals just keep on talking. This weeks front-runner for RUFs Idiot of the Week , is American Interest writer John Mueller.
Terrorphobia: Our False Sense of Insecurity makes ridiculous claims that are so far from the truth they could only come from a liberal train of thought.
He states that President Bush garnered great political benefit from the terrorism scare. First off, Sept. 11 was not a scare. It was an attack our country, our fellow Americans and our ideology. Secondly, any acclaim that President Bush received after 9/11 was well deserved as he faced on one of the darkest times in our nation with grace and steadfast resolve. I remember sitting at home that day thinking to myself Thank God Gore didnt win. Thirdly, if anything the Presidents approval ratings because of the war in Iraq are a constant issue to the Democratic Party, because they are sooo low. Cmon Dems, you cant have it both ways. To say he benefited from the attack is both blatantly offensive and disgusting.
He further goes on to (incorrectly state) that: There have been no al-Qaeda attacks whatsoever in the United States since 2001.
Not for lack of trying: -Jose Padilla, May 2002: attempted to smuggle a dirty bomb into OHare Airport in Chicago. He was later found guilty of conspiring with Islamic terrorist groups and was convicted by a jury in 2007. -Sahim Alwan, Yahya Goba, Yasein Taher, Faysal Galab, Mukhtar al-Bakri, and Shafal Mosed (Lackawanna Six) pled guilty in 2003 to proving to support al-Qaeda and attempting to attend a terrorist training camp. -Iyman Faris, May 2003, pled guilty to providing material and conspiring with al-Qaeda to commit terrorist attacks in the US by blowing up the Brooklyn Bridge...
