The first thing I saw in response was the connection between Huckabee and Martin. Martin was the one that Huckabee went to to try and get an audience with Limbaugh. Wouldn’t put it past either of them.
You know, I actually feel sort of bad for Martin. They are using him left and right now... It would be funny if it weren’t so sad. He has just enough ego to believe they really care what he thinks.

This thing has been all over the place as far as guilt. McCain, Huckabee, Fox had a Shepperd Smith segment on where they blamed Romney. A thread earlier this a.m. had a post with two links that also pointed to a Romney blog (supporter).
Who knows? I just find it amusing. What I do know is, a few hours from now we’ll know the truth about the caucus. That’s what I’m waiting for. All this speculation is just that...

He has been a legend in his own mind long before he entered politics. And the legend has only grown and been fueled by an syncopathic adoring media.

It looks to me like you’re wishing there were well defined ground rules between the 2 conservative candidate camps. I had asked for just such an arrangement months ago, but the Fred Followers declined. I expect you to support your candidate and you should expect us to support ours.
If Fred drops out and endorses McCain, how will you feel? I know it’s not that likely to happen, but please address the hypothetical. It seemed just as unlikely that Tancredo would endorse someone other than Hunter, so idealogy wasn’t as important to him as political positioning.
While I hope this one is true, I’m not holding my breath. My predicted R finish for tonight as posted this morning:
Huckabee, Thompson, Romney, Paul, McCain
The funny thing is, that would deal a blow to Romney, McCain, and Huckabee. (Huckabee least apparent. Much of his support comes from the group thinking Thompson has no chance and who won’t support Romney. If they see Thompson at that spot, they jump ship.)
Of course, if you say “of course” enough times in an article, it HAS to be fact.
I'll tell you how I would act, not feel, if you wish to hear from another Fredhead. I hope nothing I have posted could ever be construed as knocking Duncan. (Some of his supporters, however, would be a different story.)
If Duncan were still in the race and I had not had my primary, he would get my support as the only Conservative left. Should he be gone, I would vote for Duncan or write him in. If both men are gone by the general election, I vote third party or write someone in.

Yep, me too... The speculation is killing me I’m afraid. I think I need to turn off the computer AND the T.V. and focus on something else for a while... Now I remember why I stopped working on campaigns (even though part of me wants to still do that)... I don’t think my heart can take this! LOL

We've been talking about a brokered convention here in VA for weeks.
It's pretty much a forgone conclusion right now, but Iowa and NH will set a better tone and shake out the chaff (like Paul and Julieanna).
Look for Hunter to play a role at some point.
Romney has the most to lose of all. Anything less than a strong 2nd will be a problem for him.
Even if Thompson comes in 3rd, that’s big for a man no one (in politics/media) has given a chance.
Huckabee’s support is wide but shallow as you say. And I just don’t see it continuing much longer.
While I like your prediction, Even switching Romney & Fred could work very well, depending on the numbers.
That’s about how I see it. It’s either Duncan, Fred, or I’ve got a lot of thinking to do. For me, Pro-life is the dealbreaker, so the huckster might fit under the fence, but I just don’t know yet.
I can imagine that if Hunter dropped out and endorsed McCain, I’d feel like dog poo. It just plain would not make sense to me. So I would like to know how the average Fred supporter sees it.
The Politico has had about 3-4 MAJOR flubs since its inception a year and a half ago. I am really surprised so many still trust it as a reliable source. Yes, I know who all the players are involved in Politico...but credibility is all but out the window with these b.s. stories floated out there.
With all the money Romney has pumped into Iowa for him to get anything but a clear LEAD in this caucus has to spell bad news for him. All that money and he can’t even take the state? Not good in the long run, IMHO.
That's why I've purposely stayed away from predictions. Too much happening to make any at this time.
The wife & I will go out for a bite to eat when she gets home. The dog's been fed so it's out the door when she arrives. Then I'll check back in around 8 to see what's been happening in Iowa. Things should start to become clear around then.

Well, as I posted, I think he can survive alright with a strong 2nd. At least in the short-term. But it has to be strong. And that’s what’s caused me to favor his campaign being behind these Thompson rumors. I suspect his campaign has become very aware of a Fred surge, and used tactics we’ve seen before.
