RUDY'S NEGATIVES RISING
New York Daily News ^ | September 18, 2007 | Michael McAuliff

Gallup has a poll out today looking at the GOP side of the White House race, finding that Rudy Giuliani is down to 30%, leading Fred Thompson (22%), John McCain (18%) and Mitt Romney (7%). But what we find interesting is Giuliani's negatives, which are rising.

Just before he announced his plans to run, with buzz practically roaring back in December, just 12% of the country didn't like him. Since then, it's risen steadily to 38%.

Not exactly danger territory, and a pretty common in campaigns. But we're still a long way from the election and the trend suggests the country is starting to learn what New Yorkers know about the pre-9/11 Rudy -- he's a prickly, antagonistic guy who was probably just about as polarizing in his particular domain as Hillary Clinton is thought to be now.

Interestingly, the man who is running in large part on 9/11 saw his greatest jump in disapproval (from 30% to 38%) in the week after 9/11. Is there a little Rudy-Sept. 11 backlash there?

Once republican voters find out how far-left Rudy is, he's toast.

If they dug deeper, they would see his negatives are from the Republican side.

I don’t think Rudy is “far-left”.
He is certainly “liberal”, and quite possibly “authoritarian” but not “far-left” by any stretch.
Words mean things, and left/right is specifically about economics. Rudy is fiercely pro free market.

It's working. Conservatives need to keep getting the truth out about liberal Rudy.

“I don’t think Rudy is “far-left”.”

Me neither. Rudy is by far my favorite Democrat.

He should run for their nomination -— team up with Lieberman, maybe.

Oh, pro-homosexual agenda (including so-called “gay marriage”), pro-amnesty & sanctuary cities, pro-gun confiscation & banning, pro-abortion-on-demand, and anti-Federalism aren’t leftist now? Who knew?!

I wonder how this is playing in WAnkerville.

I guess it depends upon which day of the week it is and which revolutionary junta holds the reigns there and has banished their opposition. (Recent events over there have truly been popcorn-worthy. Yes, even WAnkerville founder MadIvan got banned in a recent coup. Hilarious!)

I saw that. It was kinda like that crucial step in sauerkraut-making when the stinking scum must be removed from the top and discarded.

Liberalism

and anti-Federalism

Not particularly. Leftism=marxism/socialism.
It has more to do with centrally planned economies, wealth redistribution, state controlled industry, ban of private ownership, etc.

Rudy — he’s a prickly, antagonistic guy

Or, we could aptly describe him a a sawed-off, lisping leftist thug.

Tootsie’s negatives will just go higher. A lot of folks who don’t live and breath politics just think of him and 9/11. They don’t know that he is a dress wearing, abortion loving, gun hating, pro-gay liberal.
