This is a call to arms for anyone who really cares about their country and wants to help keep the GOP in charge in Congress. I am a volunteer for Capt. Eric Dickerson, USMC (no longer active duty) and after a successful career as a businessman and a VP for Public Relations for General Motors, and then an award winning Buick dealer in Indianapolis he is now wanting to answer the call of his country just like he did many years before when he became joined the United States Marine Corps. He is running for Congress.
The 7th Congressional District of Indiana is long held by moderate to liberal Democrats and its territory is the inner city of Indianapolis. The current congressperson is ultra-extreme-liberal Julia Carson. Among the positions she supports is allowing full term babies that were supposed to be aborted, to die after birth. In 10 years of Congress she has only introduced 43 bills. She blames the GOP for her inability to introduce legislation. However her predecessor, Andy Jacobs, introduced 50 bills in his FINAL TERM under GOP control with Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Eric has a slogan which is word play on the United Negro College Fund slogan - "Because a seat in Congress is a terrible thing to waste!". And what Indiana has endured for the past 10 years is literally "Taxation without Representation".
The mainstream media has ignored this race. They call it a "safe democrat" seat, and the national parties have other races to concern themselves with such as IN-02, IN-08 and IN-09. So we are doing this campaign our way, and we're getting our support from the people. When the GOP candidate goes from 20 points down to 5 points down or 3 points ahead depending upon the pollster, it's not so safe. But the fight is not over. You Marines reading this know the story - your company has 500 Marines and you're surrounded by 5000 enemy troops. You know what a Marine would call that? a fair fight! That's what we're doing. We're just a couple hundred volunteers with about two dozen of us daily "hardcore" volunteers. We have no paid campaign manager. We don't need one we have a Marine Captain leading the charge. We don't have an office. Don't need one the campaign is renting an RV and taking the campaign to the people! But any support given will go to the campaign and will further enhance our victory on November 7th!
There are two blogs which provide coverage of this race: One is a pro-gay site but if you can hold your nose past the gay rhetoric he is very much an Eric Dickerson supporter - Advance Indiana and my own blog of anything right wing political The BOFH Chronicles.
If you're in Indiana we can use your help on Election Day. If you are not able or don't live in Indiana and just want to donate we have a website you can donate through paypal (account not required) at THIS WEBSITE or you can send to P. O. Box 90294, Indianapolis, IN 46290
I'll be around to give updates to the campaign for the next two weeks. If you want more information I've dug up you can visit my blog mentioned above and see the results of some of my research into our pathetic excuse for a congressperson. She must be neutralized! We CANNOT let the liberals take charge. This is our battle, and fighting we are!
HOOAH!
"[I] was slightly disturbed by Congresswoman Carson's opening statement in which she said that the increase in murders in Indianapolis is because of lead-based paint in low-income housing. After that comment my mind sort of drifted and I didn't comprehend some of the rest of her statement. My wife sitting next to me told me Carson implied that the people in power intentionally used lead-based paint to ruin the lives of low-income residents. Absolutely amazing."
Julia Carson: What a racist loon!
In coming FR mail.
I'd say your best chance is that voters confuse you with the football player.
Know any Indianpolis freeper you can ping to this thread?
At least name recognition should be no problem!
back atcha
Well color me stupid...I always thought Eric Dickerson the car dealer was Eric Dickerson, the former Colt! I learned something new today! :^)
(And if I still lived in Indy, I would sure be giving him my support. Carson needs to go!)
No that's not stupid I did when he first opened the dealership believed it was the football player. Considering for about 20 years or so Larry Bird was a majority owner of a Ford dealership in Martinsville, Indiana and you can't go anywhere in Denver without seeing one of John Elway's auto dealerships.
Thanks for the ping... I have been following this closely. Eric has my vote...... and welcome to FR, now that you have found us, hang around. You'll love the weather here.
Thanks for pinging the list....Knew someone had one, but couldn't remember who.
:)
I love it! LOL.
too bad I'm not in this district. ANYBODY would be better than Carson. she is a disgrace on the level of Jackson-Lee in Houston and that dingbat from Atlanta. Regardless of his particular positions, the average IQ in Congress will take a big jump. Not to mention the glee from taking away one of their safe seats and one less lock-step vote.
I know one thing we can use from all of you that can take or have time on the 7th.
Help us at the polls to get the word out. We need folks to pass out literature at many Dem-dominated precincts. Because we really need a some crossover Dem votes to have a comfortable margin of victory in this gerrymandered district.
If you want to help on the 7th please go to the campaign website above and click on "volunteer" and indicate you want to help on Election Day.
Julia rambled on and on about how the Iraq War has ruined the economy (oh really? Dow Jones is at record highs - but thanks for trying) and social problems are caused by the current government and how she was in her home neighborhood. Eric came to the microphone and gave the assembled crowd his cell phone number, then invited anyone with questions to call him. The strong, forceful voice of Eric Dickerson resonated through the assembled crowd, compared to the weak, frail, and feeble voice of Julia Carson.
The candidates stood again for a question asked of "what do you plan to do in Washington?" and Julia responded with something that did not really pertain to the question about about too many guns and peace and universal health care. Eric then took to the microphone and in the midst of Eric getting to the microphone to deliver his responses, Julia got up and shuffled back to the microphone and said "I have two more events to go to tonight" .. at 9 PM? I didn't think so. She was overheard at the back door saying "the hell with this I want to go home". Every time Eric Dickerson came to the microphone the crowd got more and more energized by his demeanor and Julia Carson's campaign staff would drop their heads and shake their heads in disbelief. Eric got the crowd going with "I didn't live in Haughville, but I was raised in Detroit!" - and then talked about how Indianapolis is neglected and the street violence needs to stop, by getting rid of the drug trade and cleaning up addicts. Then he told about how he would support a system where after time is served, a felony could be expunged from ones record after 5 years of "perfect behavior" .. that is no run ins with the law, etc. in order to allow that individual a chance to "make a living" instead of "taking for a living". That got a standing ovation and Julia wasn't there to see it.
After that we went to Applebees and had dinner, and some folks in the restaurant yelled out "HEY! There's the next congressman for Indianapolis!" and he received a round of applause from the Applebee's patrons and even the staff!
tomorrow it starts again. Onward to victory!
Thank you Freepers for your support so far!!
I know it's Saturday and every Indiana Freeper was probably out in the 9th district trying to get a wave in to W today.
But we all need to get behind the R in the 7th (Indianapolis)...if for no other reason then to get rid of Julia Carson.
We started bright and early this morning, we visited a bookstore to attending a booksigning by a local author who wrote a biography on L. Keith Buhlen, whom many long-time "old school" Indiana GOP'ers will remember very well. We received a round of applause from the assembled GOP crowd there.
We then attended a halloween festival in the Irvington neighborhood and spent almost 2 hours there meeting and shaking hands with the assembled masses. A lone Julia Carson supporter was putting their "buttons" on little kids from her little booth table. Eric was getting lots of support from the crowd and handed out over 20 yard signs to people who would come up to him and ask for one. The response was phenominal, and this was just by walking among the crowd and not standing at a booth all day just handing out items to people who would stop by.
After lunch we then went to a small private college on the eastside of Indianapolis which was putting on a Gospel sing. Eric shook lots of hands and was received very well in what conventional logic says is an overwhelming Democratic area.
ONWARD TO VICTORY ON NOVEMBER 7TH!!
Sounds like you're making progress.....Congratulation! Keep up the good work!!!!
If you'd like to read my report on the 9th. I posted it on my favorite FR thread, aka the Daily Dose. (Still waiting for picture to load to SHutterfly.....Oh if we could only get something other than dial up.)

Dad calls it "the back yard fence" ..... America just has a VERY large back yard. Although we discuss recipes, kids, etc., we're not all women. It's posted daily and gives an account of the Presidents activities/pictures for the day.
