Absolutely, Unlike many on Freerepublic it seems these days, I am a Republican. We have primaries so that we can remove RINOs and poor candidates from our Republicans lines ourselves. But if those efforts fail, I'd still rather have a RINO or continue the fight with a loser, than surrender to the Democrats.

Surrendering to the Democrats by not voting, or defecting to the 3rd parties is totally out of the question. Look what they did the last few times they have controlled the country. Johnson creates the "Great Society" and opens our borders. Carter surrenders to the Soviets and the Iranians and watches inflation and gas prices sore. Clinton lets our enemies fester abroad while he gets a blowjob. I cannot trust a Democrat in power, and no matter how much I may dislike a Republican (short of committing a crime) I must support them if it just means the Democrat failed.

And don't get me wrong, I like Katherine Harris, but this just aint her race. And if she ends up winning the primary, and staying in the race, all the power to her, I hope she wins down there in sunny Florida.

Unfortunately, no matter how many times you explain the concept of PRIMARY ELECTIONS to the Harris worshippers, they're hold their ears and sing "lalalala". It's sort of like the die hard open-borders crowd, where no matter how many times you explain that illegal aliens are automatically ILLEGAL and committing a crime, they insist those people are actually "law abiding undocumented guest workers".

The Harris worshippers have no interest in "allowing" other "R's" they don't like to run, and therefore believe the following:

1) Primary elections are pep rallies for our CHOOSEN candidate and party leaders are obiviliged to blindly support the candidate we feel is ENTITED to the GOP nomination, whether this person is running for re-election or for an open seat. Failure to support OUR candidate in the primary because you think another Republican will do a better job or stands a better chance of winning means you are actually working for the Democrat. OUR candidate is the ONLY acceptable choice in the primary, not supporting him/her is treason within the GOP.

2) If OUR candidate does not make it thur the primary, we are NOT obiliged to support anyone else with an "R" next to their name in November who is the only alternative to the Democrat, because THAT person is NOT the CHOOSEN one WE wanted nominated. Furthermore, if someone we do not like wins the primary running UNOPPOSED, we will spend the entire general election demeaning and undermining his/her candidacy so the Democrat will win, rather than realize we erred by failing to run a "better" candidate in the primary. (Remember, primaries are pep rallies for the CHOOSEN ONE, so obviously we can't be at fault if there's no CHOOSEN ONE)
