72 Hour Program Activated In RI....
Democrats were right in 2004: the Republicans have adopted a draft. It only applies, however, to party workers employed by state victory committees in the east of the Mississippi. For many it will be worse than boot camp. They are to be sent to Rhode Island to try to rescue Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafees re-election campaign in the September 12th primary.
Workers start arriving Friday and will be charged with sorting out the mess that Washington operatives believe is the Chafee campaign. First task may be to get Republican voters to forget Chafees erratic performance in the last two of the four broadcast debates between the incumbent and his lively challenger, Cranston mayor Stephen Laffey.
Scores of GOP workers will begin arriving this week and stay through the open primary as they search for and then try to persuade some of the 70,000 registered Republicans and several hundred thousand independent voters eligible to participate in the open primary to support Chaffee. Draftees, many of whom may be more compatible with Laffey, will be paid by their home-state committees. Food and lodging expenses will be picked up by Republican National Committee. Some of the faithful, however, may prefer to go AWOL than work for a Republican who opposes mangers on public property and calls the Club for Growth one of most notorious special interest groups in Washington.
Party pros may be hoping that the influx of energetic workers will inspire Chafee to put some heat under what they see as his lethargic performance in the day-to-day grind of campaigning in the Ocean State.
I urge all conservatives to support Steve Laffey in the Rhode Island Senate primary. To make a monetary contribution to Laffey's campaign, go to http://www.electlaffey.com/site/contribute.php
The links didn't light up. Let me try again:

*U.S. SENATE PING*
We learned with Specter what a problem supporting these worthless Republicans can be. I watched the debate the other night. Chafee was a bumbling fool. Laffey was straightforward and no-nonsense, though I disagreed with him here or there. At least he'd support a conservative judge.
I'm breaking out the champagne if Chafee loses, either in the primary or the general. We're better off without men like him.
"Anyone who joins us in all sincerity, we welcome. Those who do not care for our cause, we don't expect to enter our ranks in any case." - Barry Goldwater 1964
Go laffey
Wouldn't this $$ and manpower be better spent in MN or WA or PA or MI?
"Come to think of it, since the "moderate to conservative" Laffey made a point that he was NOT conservative, why should the 'Pubbies care who wins this race? No matter how it goes, they end up with RINO or a Democrat."
Moronic move and waste of resources for a liberal who will NEVER appreciate it. I really hope this backfires on the RNC and Chafee.
"Wouldn't this $$ and manpower be better spent in MN or WA or PA or MI?"
I'd support Laffey over Chaffee, just to give Chaffee a headache. But what is it with the 'Pubbies trying to rescue their worst members when they get in trouble?
So we should vote for Laffy so he can lose the Senate seat and possibly put control of the senate in Democrat hands. Do you really believe a true red blooded conservative is going to win in RI? Get real and quit smoking that hemp.
Or in Maryland. Michael Steele could use the help.
This is an incredible waste of resources on a waste of a Senator like Lincoln Chafee.
How about you ask Laffy to pull out of the race so it can be spent here in Missouri where it's needed.
Laffey is not exactly a "red-blooded conservative"; he is what I described him, a moderate-to-conservative Republican with good issue positions for Rhode Island. I reject your notion that Laffey wouldn't be able to win in November and, more importantly, I find it quite humorous for you to claim that reelecting Chafee will somehow protect our Senate majority, given the fact that Chafee votes like a Democrat most of the time and has stated that he would probably switch to the Democrats if the Senate became 50-50 again.
"But what is it with the 'Pubbies trying to rescue their worst members when they get in trouble?"
I wonder how many votes for Laffey they will turn out without meaning to.
Laffey is a FABULOUS candidate!! Chaffee is a POS RINO!!
Sad...
"Scores of GOP workers will begin arriving this week and stay through the open primary as they search for and then try to persuade some of the 70,000 registered Republicans and several hundred thousand independent voters eligible to participate in the open primary to support Chaffee."
... so now we see the GOP asking people to vote a liberal Democrat in RI and CT, so an even worse leftwing Demcorat wont get elected.
(Chaffee is the most RINOish RINO left in the Senate.)
It's time to write off New England as hopeless and mount a defense in Pennsylvania!!! (Santorum is behind but has a winnable race and needs a lot of help to make it.)
PS. I've given up on the NSRC. I have to put my money where my mouth is and support real Republican. I think I'll send it to Santorum and Talent.
