The primary results speak for themselves.
I don't know anything about this race beyond the article. Anything to tell me?
Sherwood was caught with a mistress, and some view him as vulnerable. While I wish he would retire, I don't think the Democrats have a chance. The district was very competitive when Sherwood first won and when he was first reelected, when he barely defeated Pat Casey (Bob's other son), but 2002 redistricting made it heavily Republican by taking out the city of Scranton.
Having Sherwood on the ballot will hurt Swanny and Santorum this fall.

Sherwood had an affair. His primary opponent was a liberal.
A seriously needed campaign slogan:
"Vote for the pervert -- It's important !"
BTW, this district hasn't elected a 'Rat since Stanley Prokop in '58 (a one-termer), and I unfortunately think Sherwood's "choke-a-bitch" schtick may cost us this historically GOP seat. It's outrageous he is running again.
He had a mistress whom he abused physically. Men like that don't do such things to only one woman. Chances are, he beats his wife of 29 years, too.
IMHO, he's walking dirt. And he gives the DemocRATS an outside shot at a solidly Republican district.
Hell, they could have ex-Gov. Scranton serve as a seat-warmer for a term until we could get someone else decent in the seat (Scranton was the one who beat Prokop in '60) or even Joe McDade...
