Katherine Harris' Senate Campaign Marked by Turmoil
Associated Press ^ | April 11, 2006 | BRENDAN FARRINGTON,

- There are two sides to Republican Rep. Katherine Harris (news, bio, voting record) — one that attracts talented people to her, and another that drives them away.

The stories from former staff members are consistent, whether they worked with her at the Florida secretary of state's office, in her congressional office or on her current campaign to unseat Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson (news, bio, voting record):

The woman who was both celebrated and vilified for overseeing the 2000 Florida recount is smart, charming and energetic and works hard. She is also a micromanager, easily angered and sometimes bursts into tears. If she doesn't like what she is being told, she refuses to accept it.

As a result, her congressional office has been a revolving door, and in recent weeks, she lost what was left of her original core campaign staff.

She has a much better staff now.

Here is a revealing excerpt:

"Before she made her new start last month, her old staff described her as increasingly emotional and distrusting as her campaign began to spiral downward. They said she began relying more on personal friends rather than highly regarded political professionals.

"Katherine wasn't listening to us and didn't agree on the direction of the campaign," Rollins said.

She began mistreating people, including one of her closest consultants, Adam Goodman, Rollins said.

Goodman, who resigned last month, had been with Harris since her first campaign, a state Senate race that she won despite the skeptics who said she had no chance. He then helped her earn the secretary of state job, a position she again was told could not win. He also worked her two House campaigns.

"Someone like Adam Goodman, who knows Florida and is better than anybody in the business, wasn't being appreciated," Rollins said. "We're professionals. We're doing the best we can, but if she doesn't want to take the advice, fine. We'll move on."

Harris' staff problems are not new. One former employee in the secretary of state's office, who did not want to be identified because of his current position, said Harris once became so angry she snapped a calligraphy fountain pen, spraying ink over his face and suit. For him, that was the last straw and he left."

I'm not enthusiastic about prospects of her withdrawing voluntarily.

With postings like the ones above, you can bet a horse-riding picture is on its way.

I too, am now seeing the handwriting on the wall .

But let us NOT digress into stories and innuendo by those who will not come forward and remain nameless !

Katherine Harris is a very intelligent woman, who has had a difficult past few weeks after the passing away of her beloved father George Harris .

I am not saying that her campaigning will suddenly make a miraculous turn for the better -
- I am saying that we should give her the time to re-evaluate her priorities and do the right thing .

And I do have faith in this noble woman !

If she does something incredibly positive in the next 15 days to sway media and public opinion, she may have a slight chance.

If not, 60-38.

Or, if Nelson does something incredibly wreckless(which is unlikely) or some scandal involving his pork barrel projects erupts(also unlikely)

I give the odds at 49-40, the rest going to the candidates from the smaller parties .

This story was obviously planted by RINOs and CINOs who are hell-bent on destroying Katherine Harris at any cost! You must be one of them!

The fact that you published a story on here that isn't positive of Harris obviously means that you're disloyal and not a team player.

In fact, she's losing right now because YOU haven't gotten on board with the groupthink that she's a highly electable individual.

(sarcasm off)

You sir, are just a Socialist-lovin' RINO Neocon. You'd rather have a ratty RAT in office than a real American conservative like Katherine. The polls are fake!!!! Katherine going to slam the ratty RAT hard but good!!! The gift is to see the truth according to Katherine Harris :)

CHANGE OF POINT, HERE

Last night on CNN's LouDobbs, I heard Suzanne Malveaux mention, among other Dems, that Bill Nelson of Florida was opposed to the lastest amnesty for illegal aliens .

If so, he is in touch with the majority of real Americans, on this subject .
Granted, he is most likely playing a shallow vapid populist !

What is Katherine's stand on this issue ?

Harris co-sponsored an amnesty bill in Congress in 2003. She is pro illegal immigration.

That action was not wise, but it hardly makes her pro-illegal immigration !

How does that action suggest that she isn't pro-illegal immigration?

Do you know what an amnesty bill is?

I simply meant that offering amnesty(in effect, permit to stay) to illegals aliens that are already here and have been so for a while, is not the same thing as inviting third worlders to come flooding across our borders,
even though such amnesties in the past,
have had that effect . .
