Spelling error, it's former KGB general. If true, this reflects terribly on Taylor, who's been attacked on his ethics before. Ex-professional athlete Heath Schuler (D) is considering a campaign against Taylor.

So, will you be creating an exploratory committee soon? Somebody needs to take out Taylor in the primary, and it might as well be you.

I remember you writing how you wouldn't run unless it was clear that it was a winnable race, and I think that this is a primary race that better be winnable for you, or else we might lose the House seat in November. President Bush got 57% in the district in 2004 (1% less than in 2000), so an unblemished Republican should coast to victory in the general election, but I'm afraid that Taylor might just lose if he's our nominee.

O already have an Exploratory Committee. The one I set up in 2004 remains in existence. I agree with you that Charlie is as weak now as he has ever been, for a variety of reasons. It is still very much an uphill battle.

Reminiscent of ex-Panther Chris Kouri's run against Robin Hayes.

I think the Rats are engaged in a nationwide campaign to smear Republican congressmen, thereby opening up as many House seats as possible through resignations and ethical pressures in the next election. Accordingly, I would take any such allegations against a Republican congressman or senator with several grains of salt.

First Tom Delay, then Ney. Cunningham, and Taylor. The RATS plan for 2006 is to portray the GOP as the party of corruption.

I lived in western carolina over 10 years ago, and the dems were saying the same thing then. The more Taylor is attacked by liberals the stronger he gets. And the liberals heve been using the same playbook againsy him for a decade. Bottom line: Taylor is unbeatable in western carolina. Period. Wacko liberals live in Asheville, but the surrounding counties are dark red.

There are reasons why Charlie Taylor SHOULD step down. However, based on his appearance at a campaign rally (excuse me, town meeting) in Brevard, last night, he is (so far) planning to run again.

Glad to hear this. But he shouldn't get complacent.
