Ex-Rep. Tim Roemer (D-IN) Won't Run For Senate Next Year

Roemer, who represented a northern Indiana district from 1991 to 2002, said in a statement that he wants instead to spend more time with his wife and four children. Roemer now leads the Center for National Policy, a Washington, D.C., think tank.

Roemer would have only had an outside chance. But now Richard Lugar is a sure bet.

Roemer would have had absolutely no chance whatsoever. Not that I love Lugar...

Indiana is a machine state. The nomination is Lugar's as long as he wants it. Too bad he isn't retiring.

Why did Dan Coats retire?? He looks great compared to the two gutless wonders we have representing us in the Senate...

'Cause he's a coward. He saw the Evan Bayh juggernaut and hit the "eject" button. I would respect him a lot more if he had gone down fighting instead.
