Mayoral Campaign
Bay Village, OH - - According to Candidate Bruce Cobbeldick, November 2005 should be one of the most interesting mayoral races Bay Village has ever seen. "Bay is at a crossroads right now, and while some issues seem pretty cut and dried, it's when one spends just a little more time thinking about things - it's when one considers the source and looks at who stands to gain what that or lose what - that the voter has the opportunity to decypher double-talk and hype from common sense and pragmatism." According to Cobbeldick, 42, "There is a lot of assumptiveness going on right now - people are leaping to decisions before they really take time out to look and see the forest from the trees. And trees are no small part of the equation this Fall. "Bay has seen a lot of trees come down, and we have changed the face of Bay in no uncertain terms already. Olmsted Falls, North Ridgeville and Westlake have all seen tremendous expansion take place in their communities. Bay Village just might be the last municipality that has bragging rights about Mother Nature being mostly still intact," said Cobbeldick. "There is beauty in simplicity. There is also savings and efficiency found in simplicity. The old expression, Keep It Simple Stupid is anything but stupid; it's quite wise indeed. More sewers, more lanes, more traffic, more infrastructure, more services, more sanitation workers, more safety forces and more noise makes Bay Village merely a watered down version of itself. We will dillute the value of living here if we prize money and oneupsmanship over being frugal and careful about our lifestyle and approach to city planning, said the two-time Chairman for the local American Legion, Post 385. Bigger is not always better. When quaint goes away, and Corporate Brands start replacing local merchants, some might call that progress, but I do not think of Corporate Brands when I think of Bay. I think of faces, people's first names and old fashioned service and simpler times when I personally think about Bay Village. My hometown always was like stepping back in time for me. When I was in the military, I longed to be back in Bay, because it offered me all of those Mayberry RFD type of feelings and it just seemed like some 1950's Norman Rockwell Painting no matter where you looked. The quiet, the trees, the open spaces and the silence come nightfall are all intangibles to me. Let Crocker Park have the movie theaters, the garbage, the mess, the work and the limelight. Westlake can keep the expenses, the bills, the headaches and the responsibilities that go with all that growth and expansion. Keep Payless Shoes - - - I'll take Arthur's Shoe Tree. Keep the Home Depot - - - I'll take True Value. Keep your Sports Bar - - - I'll take Midnight Bowling at Bay Lanes. Keep Best Cuts - I'll prefer Howe's Barber Shop. It's people - real, live human beings, our neighbors, friends, fellow church-goers and trusted storekeepers who make Bay Village the ideal place to raise a family that it is - - - and from where I stand, we have a lot of cooks in the kitchen right now, all spoiling the broth. I would respectfully submit that while there is nothing wrong with some Change, when you are talking about a community that is seen as ideal due to it being nostailgic, quaint and old-fashioned, MODERNIZATION may not add value; MODERNIZATION just might cost us our identity. (The same identity that led you to settle here in the first place) Any citizen could have a North Olmsted or a Westlake if that is what they prefer. But we all either grew up here and chose to stay in Bay, or we came here because Bay is unique and rare in its simple charm and natural beauty. Cost containment is not the only objective in being conservative. Along with efficiency and simplicity, comes economy, noise reduction, risk mitigation and preservation of natural resources. I'm no tree-hugger or Nature Nut, but I think that the obviousness of Bay's beauty ought to speak for itself. When I factor in the principle of choosing people over pride, I have no regrets about sidestepping any notions of Keeping Up With The Jones' with settling for peaceful, restful nights, and the memories that only a bedroom community, so safe, so green and so quiet can offer us all. More money to be made? Probably. But at what cost? Let's keep Bay "Bay!"
Mike O'Boyle is focused on defeating Debbie.
The School Board's President probably is eager to propel any agenda the School Board puts forth to the taxpayers.
I'm not pleased at all with Debbie's brand of leadership, but I realize you have to do more than be the default to the incumbent.
I am for bay Schools, but I am 200% convinced that it's not wise to mix School Board Leadership with Municipal (City) Leadership, resulting in a situation that makes it far too easy for the School Board to pretty much write their own ticket and get their way at the expense of the taxpayers will, prompting citizens to feel like they exist for the School Board's agenda, rather than the School Board existing for the People's agenda. Let's keep the citizens in the driver's seat. Let's keep our School Board separate and removed from our Executive Branch of Government. In order to have the right checks and balances, every once and a while, THERE OUGHT TO BE A FRESH FACE, SOMEONE WHO IS A POLITICAL OUTSIDER, AN OUT OF THE BOX THINKER AND AN ADVOCATE FOR THE AVERAGE JOE AND JANE TAXPAYER OUT THERE. YOU CANNOT GIVE THE PEOPLE SOMEONE WHO WILL CHAMPION THEIR CONCERNS IF THE VOTERS PERPETUATE AN ALREADY ENTRENCHED GOVERNMENT WITH MORE OF THE SAME. TO BREAK FREE OF THE GOOD OL' BOYS SYSTEM, THE BEST CURE FOR "POLITICS AS USUAL" IS SOMEONE WHO THINKS WITH AN INDEPENDENT MIND. I AM A CONSERVATIVE. I AM A REPUBLICAN. BUT I AM MINDFUL OF THAT OLD ADAGE, "TO THINE OWN SELF, BE TRUE." You see, I believe the taxpayers (citizens of Bay Village) want and NEED a Political Outsider. That's why I am pleased to know no one, be beholden to no one, have friends in low and medium places and to be the Underdog in this race.
Mike O'Boyle's sister was County Commissioner.
I'm sure a lot of folks ew and ah over that.
The School Board President has a following of her own, I'm quite sure.
But who's looking out for the little guy? Who's going to be in the corner of the taxpayer? Who's the candidate most likely to be The People's mayor? Which candidate knows he puts his pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else? Who's the candidate with the Management Consulting and Business experience? Who's the candidate who's been the Veteran, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Fleet Manager for a major trucking company and Ground Transportation and Shuttle Bus Manager for a major airport? I'm not hanging my hat on being a Veteran. I'm not even hanging my hat on the fact that I took on Dennis Kucinich and was recognized by the Plain Dealer for running a sharp campaign, and being one of two GOP Candidates who could take on Dennis Kucinich. The fact is nowadays, POLITICAL LABELS DO NOT MATTER. I enjoy being a Conservative, because I think that my beliefs align with the intent of our Founding Fathers. But I realize their are Republicans who are spenders and Democrats who are Conservative. These times call for voters to do what any thinking man or woman ought to do: VOTE FOR THE BEST PERSON. THE PERSON WITH THE BEST CREDENTIALS, IDEAS, VISION, ENERGY LEVEL, PEOPLE SKILLS AND THE CANDIDATE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT THE NEXT GENERATION - NOT THE NEXT ELECTION. There are more For Sale Signs right now in Bay Village than anytime I can remember. I was born here in 1963. We have an opportunity to get it right this November. I plan to model my Administration after Mayor Cowles' Administration. I want my legacy to be that of a man who was approachable, down to Earth and courteous. I want to serve others and I want to protect Bay's identity. I want to fight hard for Tax Relief and offer the taxpayers value and efficiency. I want to help keep Bay Schools a priority, but I will remain loyal to idea that no city can be truly great if it becomes unaffordable. My aim is to help keep citizens here BECAUSE THEY CHOOSE TO, BECAUSE THEY PREFER TO, BECAUSE THEY WANT TO AND BECAUSE THEY CAN AFFORD TO. My mantra is Thomas Jefferson's famous quote: "Good government does not steal from the mouth of labor the bread that it has earned."
Want to see less people put up moving signs here in Bay?
Vote for Bruce Cobbeldick and get a mayor who knows truly great cities are great not just for their amenities - - - but for their affordability too! After all, what good is it to build a great town if the residents end up having to move out in droves because they cannot afford to reside there? Thank you for your time, energy, effort and resources. Lift up your hearts. All this struggle will not be in vain. We can win this one. We will win this one.

Ok I am sorry but trying to read that is making my head throb
Congratulations, you've written a fruitcake--pretty, but too dense to penetrate.
