I'd perfer Asa Huchison.

And he'll win the primary anyway, I don't see this announcement as being particularly relevant.

The Rockefeller family was instrumental in the post-Civil War transformation of the GOP into a pro-free market party. John D. Rockefeller, Sr. and Marcus Hanna and their associates provided almost all of the campaign funding for William McKinley's 1896 presidential victory (McKinley was the first president who could truly be considered a conservative).

However, in the past several decades, the Rockefellers have evolved into either RINOs or 'Rats. They seem to use their wealth to "buy" political office in economically "less advantaged" states like West Virginia and Arkansas, and the Rockefeller Foundation has become a bastion of leftist funding.

"I'd prefer Asa Huchison."

I agree 100%, especially since Rockefeller is pro-abortion (which not only makes him less likely to gain my support, but makes him less likely to win a general election as a Republican in socially conservative Arkansas). Do we know for certain that Asa is running? Asa chickened out of running against Senator Blanche Lincoln last year, a race that I think he would have won (Lincoln won by only 56%-44% against severely underfunded state senator Jim Holt, and President Bush carried the state by 54%-45% despite the fact that Kerry never really gave up there).

Indeed, I think Asa could have won, but I think he was hoping to be the Secretary of Homeland Security. Now that he isn't going to be, he will run.

He essentially said that he was gonna run for sure before Kerik exploded, then he backed off, but now that Chertoff has the job and not him, I'm pretty sure he's gonna run.

Asa is a terrible candidate, of course he is probably the strongest going into the primary. I say he is a terrible candidate because I can't think of a positive thing he's done since he was in Washington.

As head of the DEA, nothing was accomplished. Then as number 2 in Homeland Security in charge of the borders....well we all know how well that has gone. He got passed over for the top job so he's back in Arkansas trying to keep himself in the limelight.

On the face of it he's stronger just because of his 3rd district ties and that's the vast majority of our state's GOP voters. But Win Rock has made in-roads into the established 3rd district wing and he'll do well come next May.
