Help Steve Shaw Defeat Bloomberg in NYC Mayoral Primary
Steve Shaw for Mayor '05 ^ | 9/18/04 | Steve Shaw

I need your financial support if I am going to defeat Mayor Bloomberg in the 2005 Republican primary for New York City mayor.

We must remove liberal Democrats from the Republican Party, and I urgently need your support to make this happen.

After campaigning as a Republican to secure Rudy Giuliani’s valuable post-9/11 endorsement, Mayor Bloomberg has compiled the following record:

* Raised every tax in the book to cover billions in new spending.

* Enacted harmful regulations on small business, including a comprehensive smoking ban that devastated bar owners.

* Supported a minimum wage hike that is $2 higher than the national rate.

* Supported huge public subsidies of sports-stadium projects while the city faces yawning budget deficits.

* Opposed to school vouchers.

* Seeks to make NYC the abortion capital of the world by making training in abortion procedures mandatory for residents in NYC’s public hospitals. This training was previously an elective.

Regardless of where you live, this election is important to you for the following reasons:

* We must strengthen the Republican Party in New York City and New York State. Right now, NY’s Republican Party stands for tax hikes, oppressive regulation, and a big role for government in people’s lives. As a result, Republican voters don’t get behind our candidates and 12 out of 13 NYC congressmen are Democrats, not to mention both U.S. Senators. A stronger NY Republican Party means more Republicans in Washington, D.C. fighting for what you believe in. It could also bring an end to the concession of New York State in presidential elections.

* New York City should be pushing the United States economy forward and not holding it back. Due to Bloomberg’s high-tax, high-regulation policies, however, the city stayed in recession two years longer than the rest of the county and, from June 2002 through May 2004, the city lost more private sector jobs than it created.

* Free-market solutions such as vouchers must be given a chance to work in NYC’s 1.1 million-child school system. NYC schools educate more kids than any other school system in the U.S. and a successful voucher program could set a great precedent for other school systems to follow suit.

* We must work together to reverse the Bloomberg-endorsed taking of innocent human life.

On September 13, I posted an announcement on Free Republic regarding my candidacy for the Republican nomination for mayor of New York City. While over 1,300 people viewed the posting thus far, very few have contributed. I need your contribution of $50, $100, $175, $250 or whatever you are able to do if I am going to have any chance against the billionaire incumbent. Please do not stand by and let a liberal Democrat continue to lead the Republican Party of New York City for four more years. Go to www.shawformayor.com and contribute today!

Bump.

This election is in the books. It's time to get to work on Bloomberg. A regime change in NYC is called for.
