Right to Life endorses Bisbee in primary for conservative 7th congressional district

JACKSON, Mich. (AP) State Rep. Clark Bisbee has received the endorsement of Right to Life of Michigan over other Republican candidates who advocate against abortion in the race for a conservative congressional seat in southern Michigan.
"It's going to help out tremendously," Bisbee, of Jackson, said Monday about the endorsement for the Aug. 3 Republican primary for the 7th District seat.
Right to Life of Michigan doesn't typically endorse in primaries that feature more than one candidate who advocates against abortion, but the political action committee endorsed Bisbee because former state Sen. John "Joe" Schwarz, a moderate Republican from Battle Creek, is in the primary.
Schwarz has said that although he is personally opposed to abortion, he would not vote to overturn a woman's right to have one, saying that as a doctor he has seen too many back-alley abortions gone wrong.
Six Republicans are running for the seat that will be open when Republican U.S. Rep. Nick Smith retires later this year. They are: state Rep. Gene DeRossett, former state Rep. Paul DeWeese, Smith's son attorney Brad Smith, former state Rep. Tim Walberg, Schwarz and Bisbee.
The Right to Life endorsement should be a boost to Bisbee, who has raised fewer dollars than DeRossett, DeWeese and Brad Smith. DeRossett already has campaign ads airing on television.
And this splits three major endorsements. Club for Growth backed Smith. Ted Nugent backed DeRossett.
Advantage Schwarz. :(
No kidding. The conservative endorsements are about as split as they can be. Schwarz couldn't have done better if he made the endorsements himself.
Only two dems running so far are Drew Walker and Sharon Renier. (Seagraves [a DU'er] and Widner dropped out) Both are their "C team" candidates.
Renier lost a race for state rep to Jerry Kratz in 2002(Jackson County). Walker is a first time candidate.
Mark Schauer is their A Team. Doug Spade an "A- Team". Both could win against a Schwarz. I think Spade's term limited, and is the dem establishment choice. I don't know if Spade's pro-life, but he has a pro-2nd amendment voting record.
Looks like Deweese is toast. I can't imagine why the Chamber would endorse him now when they wouldn't endorse him in his race for state Senate. He's too wedded to the unions.
Bisbee gains Chamber of Commerce endorsement
Better dust off that resume kid. Your boy Deweese and his union ties have destroyed him. The Deweese Campaign is:
I've yet to see him on my TV doing commercials for the prevailing wage. That's pandering at its worst. No one wants that type of "Republican" in Washington D.C.
While that's certainly true, it's kind of funny to watch your guy run around claiming a conspiracy between the chamber of commerce and Right to life.
I think voters know that Paul DeWeese is a frustrated phoney politician who has run a failed state Senate campaign and is now running in congressional district in which he doesn't even live. He has what you might call a SERIOUS credibility problem.
KRB, it's now August 3rd. I hope you're proud of yourself.
