BIG NEWS: SPECTER WEAK AT HOME

Toomey Blog readers will recall that on Thursday, December 11, 2003 I posted a story on an Allentown Morning Call and Muhlenburg Colllege poll findng that, although Toomey trailed Specter 52 to 25 statewide, "The same poll also said Toomey leads Specter 57 percent to 29 percent among registered Republican voters in Lehigh and Northampton counties."

For those who aren't good with math, on Toomey's home turf, he crushed Specter by 28 points.

One would think Specter would enjoy a similar lead on his home turf. WRONG!

"Lehigh Valley U.S. Rep. Pat Toomey is 13 points behind U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter -- but still largely unknown -- on the senior senator's home turf, according to poll results released Friday," reports the Express-Times.

"The Keystone Poll of registered voters in Montgomery and Philadelphia counties found that 33 percent of registered Republicans would vote for Toomey in the upcoming primary vs. 46 percent for Specter."

"The candidates still have a window of opportunity to reach out to voters, as 22 percent of voters were undecided in the Republican primary."

"'I think Toomey would feel pretty good about this,' [political science professor G. Terry] Madonna said. 'Specter's not over 50 percent in the Philadelphia suburbs.'"

What Does All This Mean?

In the words of the great Ryan Shafik, "To know Pat Toomey is to love Pat Toomey."

Compared with Toomey, who leads Specter by a whopping 28 points on his home Lehigh turf, Specter only leads Toomey by 13 points at on his home Philly turf, which is traditionally the most liberal part of the state and the most hostile to the message of a Conservative Republican like Toomey.

Specter is in serious trouble, folks, and the more people hear about Pat Toomey the more his poll numbers go up.

We are going to win this race, and you can be a part of it by simply telling a friend about this great man we all love: Congressman Pat Toomey.

It looks like Snarlin' Arlen is going down for the count. If he can't even get above 50% among registered Republicans in his base in Philly and in the RINO-infested Montgomery County suburbs, how is he going to defeat Pat Toomey when the latter has 80% statewide name ID as opposed to his current 48% statewide name ID? Arlen Specter picked the wrong primary in which to run---he would have a much better chance in the Democrat primary running to the left of Joe Hoeffel on social issues. Pat Toomey will give Pennsylvania a second conservative Repubiblican in the Senate and Rick Santorum's vote will no longer get canceled out by the RINO Specter's vote. GO, PAT, GO!

No, let's just settle for Specter. He'll only screw us most of the time.

BTW, did you see that the latest poll has Toomey just 3% behind Specter among likely voters? See http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1108522/posts
