Desperately seeking a dintinction between PAC and Lobbyist
Posted on 02/18/2004 2:31:35 PM PST by VulgarWit
Can someone please explain (preferably with sources) the distinction of PAC vs any other lobbyist? Over the past weeks I've had a slew of arguments with Dems who tout Kerry's "No PAC Money" stance as indicative of the second coming and try as I might I can't figure out what the difference is --in this realm--between the Sierra Club and... well any other group really...

A PAC (Political Action Committee) is a group of people who come together, throw their money into a pot then donate the money to candidates who reflect their views.
Most PAC's employ a lobbyist, who monitors pending legislation and tried to educated and influence elected officials to vote according to the wishes of the PAC.
There are Conservative PACs and Liberal PACs. PACs are not totally Bad or totally good, neither are lobbyists.
Is that what you were asking?
