Foreward
Bruce Cobbeldick, (R) attended a Cleveland Press Club Luncheon in January, whereby the topic was changing Clevelanders' dialogue from negative to positive. And if you listen to my opponents, who have harped on their hatred for Kucinich, you'll see the difference between their campaign and Cobbeldick's approach to dealing with Dennis. "This race is too important for simply finger-pointing and assigning blame," says Cobbeldick, age 40. "There is nothing productive about being upset with Kucinich and rants that either mock him or point the finger at him for our troubles and woes. Far better for a true leader to step in and be about the business of fixing things and offering ideas. No one goes to the mechanic to simply be told their car sounds awful and that it needs a tune-up. Mechanics are in business to fix automobiles. Well, a statesman ought to have innovative ideas, true leadership and the qualifications and vision to take the Greater Cleveland area and transform the NE Ohio Region into something far better, something to be proud of, a community where citizens can flourish again. This whole race, all my opponents have done is stand before a few groups and profess how mad they are at Dennis. I am the only Congressional Candidate with a Foreign Policy and a Domestic Platform that shows forward thinking and problem-solving. Who are CEO's and CFO's going to listen to? Who has the significant business background in Big 4 Consulting, working with Blue Chip Companies and who has the .com and e-Business background? These things, including my being a family man, and being able to relate to the struggles that today's families are enduring are what makes a Congressman worthy of votes. Forget who has raised more money. That is classic politics. The money will come after the Primary Election, believe me. Right now, good people of Cleveland, focus on who has the ideas vs. who doesn't. Money may buy yard signs, but it's the candidate with the leadership, vision and sincereity who deserves your trust and confidence. This time, let's get it right. Vote for Bruce Cobbeldick on March 2, 2004. Back the man with ideas - not just a pocketbook."

SLUG: Channeling Forward, Positive Thinking Will Be Key to NE Ohio's Future
Bay Village, OH - - Bruce Cobbeldick, the first Republican to throw his hat into the ring when Chairman Jim Trakas asked for candidates to step forth and challenge Dennis Kucinich, has a different take on the Dennis dilemma the GOP faces here, in Greater Cleveland, and it was reinforced at a Cleveland Press Club Luncheon that focused on Cleveland's need to shift gears from limited thinking and move forward with creative solutions.
"It was after about 3-4 months of running that I changed my gears and got away from focusing on Dennis Kucinich," said Cobbeldick, 40, who earned the backing of the Parma Republican Club's President, back in September. "I realized that there was a field of Republican candidates, all squawking about how much they were upset with Mr. Kucinich and the only things being said were criticisms and comments as to why he was a Wacko, and why he needed to be shown the door. I alone have spent months creating my own plans for NE Ohio, not just pointing at Kucinich! We need to be in the mode of healing and fixing things now."
Cobbeldick, a former Marine Corps sergeant, and past Chairman for the American's Legion's Citizens For Soldiers fundraiser, here in NE Ohio, said that it became clear to him that the other candidates were just spinning their wheels. With Smith promising to take back the Seat, and Herman saying over and over that he is "mad, very, very mad at Dennis Kucinich," my opponents were simply presenting themselves as a default option to Kucinich. But a candidate ought to focus on what they will do themselves upon being elected - not simply trying to publicize the fact that an incumbent should not be re-elected. Voters may in fact not like Dennis' flip-flopping on Abortion or his running two, dual races at the same time, leaving his constituents wondering, where is my Congressman, but neither Herman nor Smith have ever given the people a reason to vote for them over Kucinich!"
Cobbeldick says his campaign has put forth an extensive Foreign Policy. "My Domestic Platform is the most thorough, and I have come up with ideas and solutions that will serve to make a real difference. There is no questioning where's the beef with my candidacy. It's in there!" Jim Trakas, our chairman cited to me in an email that he found Herman to have a lack of an agenda, and I couldn't agree more with Jim. As candidates, it's not enough to hammer away at your Democratic opponent. It's a given that Kucinich has left his post, and gone way to the Extreme Left. Pointing that out simply isn't enough. What the voters want and deserve is not simply candidates who cite the mistakes and voting record of an incumbent. Moreover, what the people are looking for is a candidate with a game plan. The people want meat on the bone, maturity, experience and vision. In order to establish any momentum against Dennis, I knew that this race could not be simply about getting rid of Mr. Kucinich. This Primary had to emphasize qualifications, preparedness and a cogent, solid plan to turn things around for America. And that is what I've done."
Cobbeldick, a native of Bay Village, who just this week joined Sell4Free Real Estate, a business right there in his home town, says that the recent Cleveland Press Club Luncheon confirmed his beliefs that simply complaining and pointing accusatory fingers at Dennis falls short - way short of being a strategy for success. As a businessman dependent on Cleveland's image and wanting us to get back to the days where Cleveland was a proud area to call home, I was delighted to hear talk about what leaders here could do to try and affect positive change, here in NE Ohio. You see, Dennis is just one person. It is his ideologies and what he stands for that is the problem. We need to get away from attacking Dennis, the person, and make strides as a community to re-build and put our best foot forward.
The speaker at the Cleveland Press Club Luncheon talked about the need to get on with life, to move forward and not dwell on the negatives. I knew that I had gone about this campaign the right way by building a strong foundation of policies and a platform that laid out a course of action. I have not spent my time harping on the rants about why Dennis needs to go. To me, that is just stating the obvious! You don't go into a repair shop when you have car troubles simply to be told "you need a tune-up, your car sounds awful." Same is true with managing change and leading a region like NE Ohio out of the dark ages. The big difference with my campaign is I have ideas and solutions, and that's what Cleveland's Republicans, Independents and disenchanted Democrats are looking for - - - RESULTS NOT SIMPLY ASSIGNING BLAME. To me, that is the real difference between me and my opponents. I'm offering ideas and solutions.
