OLYMPIA -- Former state Sen. Dino Rossi and Attorney General Christine Gregoire each raised more than $300,000 in December toward their runs for governor, their campaigns said Tuesday.
That still leaves Rossi, a Republican, well behind Gregoire, a Democrat. But Rossi can continue to raise money through the winter, while Gregoire is subject to a freeze on raising money.

Sounds like Rossi is holding his own . . . I think he'll do quite well, though it's an uphill race obviously. He gets to run against the status quo of Democrat governors and perpetually high unemployment.

Tossed pings to some Washington folks, hope y'all don't mind.

Rossi can win. He has to figure out a way to use Gregoire's abysmal record against her without having a "Rick Lazio" moment. Hopefully Talmage and Sims will sling the mud hard in the dim primary and Rossi will benefit.

I sure hope that you are right. She has the woman issue going for her and Dino has the R after his name. Oh my goodness, Washington has not had a Republican Governor in over 20 years. I can't believe Dunn did not run for this...she would have had a better chance, but still, as an R, she too would have had an uphill battle.
Rossi has no name recognition. Carlson had at least that...but a lot of baggage. The AG has some baggage too. Too bad this is not Deborah Senn running...even many Demoncrats that I know would not vote for her. Or least that is what they claim...but they say the same thing for Murray and she keeps getting reelected.
