it still makes me feel good to think about it.

Good for you!!!! I would have loved to see the look on his face after the plate landed in his lap.

One night I was having dinner with some friends,it was a Friday, the place was crowded with an hour wait for a table, so since we had been able to get seats at the bar we ate there. After dinner, just as we were discussing whether to get another pitcher of beer or head back into town to our regular waterin hole, the ex (he wasn't ex yet, we lived apart weren't divorced yet) walked in with a buddy. Needless to say, that made my decision about another pitcher real fast. 2 of the 3 folks I was with knew him and also made a quick decision about heading out. The only one unaware of who he was, was coolbreze, the guy who is now my husband!!!

About an hour later they showed up in the bar downtown, and dimwit makes a beeline to where we were all sitting and taps coolbreeze on the shoulder and says "Excuse me, I would like to speak to my WIFE"

In order to preserve peace I agreed to sit in a booth and speak to him. All eyes in the whole place were on him and I could see him getting more uncomfortable by the minute. At one point he started to reach across the table at me, and 4 guys stood up from the bar - he retracted his arm real fast.

He got up to leave shortly after that, but not before the bar manager informed him he would no longer be welcome in there at any time that I was in there!!!!

What makes all of this so funny is thathe claimed I wouldn't and couldn't ever leave him because I wouldn't make in that town without his "name and clout" and within the space of 2 months of my leaving him he got banned from the 2 most popular watering holes in town and my political "clout" got him a job after he lost his and couldn't get one on his own!!!!

All of this took place in the spring, summer and fall of 1988, but sometimes it seems like just yesterday!!!

Wow! That's showing him who doesn't have "clout"-I love it when that happens. Too bad he didn't give one of the guys an excuse to deck him.

The final showdown with my ex happened in late 1987, as did our divorce, and yes, sometimes it does seem like yesterday.
