Good grief! I had no idea those Humvees would go that fast. And while pulling a Howitzer, at that. LOL! Now why on earth do they only make the speedometer read up to 55 when it can go much faster? Makes no sense to me. It's actually dangerous.

That's wild that the State Trooper just pulled off like that and didn't stop you. Around here, they pull you over for going a couple of miles over the speed limit. I can vouch for that. LOL!

That's just it, they aren't supposed to be able to.
They're V-6 diesels.
Military vehicles are designed for a top speed of 55.
That, however, doesn't necessarily mean they can't go faster.
Some of our state troopers here in NY are also MP's in the National Guard.
Had at least one instance of oen of our soldiers running into an MP that he knew from being pulled over in civilian life when said MP was in his civilian role as state trooper.
*snort*
I suspect the trooper and his side seater had an idea that we were clueless about our speed.
The humvee we were using for that actually had rather good acceleration for a diesel.
Surprised more than a few drivers who were just getting used to driving one of those beasts.
You get inside it, and the first ting you notice is that the steering wheel is remarkable thin.
It's thinner than a civilian vehicle's steering wheel and is hard to get used to, especially since it's somewhat hard to hold onto at times.
