"At lunch I will post an *oldie* of mine that I found last night. See you later"

Looking forward to your poem. I went back to the Google Store and found more poems that I could share.

Guess it's time to shop for either some jokes or some recipes.

Or maybe back to bed for an hour or so. LOL

This one is really old. It was written on the day a friend of mine died from AIDS - May 11, 1987:

Shine On

You fought hard for your
rightful place on Earth.
Then, the body gave way to
set the spirit free.

No more to feel the
wind rush against your cheek,
nor to touch the hand of
the one you loved.

Nor to hear life’s soft song
gently vibrating in your ears.
Yet, the spirit lives on
to wander among our souls.

Giving birth to inspiration,
firing warmth among the ashes,
watching wistfully,
guiding tenderly.

Making sure that
when we stumble,
we have the strength
to carry on.

And so, our spiritual friend,
although the body
weakened, your essence
burns brightly.

Long may you live
within us.
Long may we live
with you.
