Chicks to break with country scene

The Dixie Chicks say they don't want to be a country music band any more.

Violinist Martie Maguire told Spiegel magazine: "We don't feel part of the country scene any longer, it can't be our home any more."

She said she was disappointed other country singers didn't back up the Dixie Chicks in their criticism of George W Bush's politics on Iraq.

"A few weeks ago, Merle Haggard said a couple of nice words about us, but that was it," Maguire complained.

"The support we got came from others, like Bruce Springsteen."

Going home empty-handed from the Country Awards ceremony also made them decide to break with the scene, Maguire said.

"Instead, we won three Grammys against much stronger competition.

"So we now consider ourselves part of the big Rock 'n' Roll family."

Birds of a feather should flock together. Their true colors revealed, it's time to complete the transformation.

"Loud Mouthed Chix, Looking For Fans, Not a Fight"

They are in need of a crowd with a lower IQ and less awareness of those political thingy people.

If they think they'll find it in the 18 to 30 age group they are sadly in trouble. They are too old and fat for the under 18 crowd. So basically they are about to get the o'l heave ho.

Look for them in various mens magazines by next summer. By 2005 they'll be in detox.

I sure hope you're right. You know a lot more about the current rock scene than I do.

They are a disgrace to the Maines Brothers. Fortunately, I've never seen Natalie and the Maines Brothers mentioned in the same article.

Very few get your post, but it's priceless.

A small observation the Chix might think about. You usually play good music and then fans decide to listen to it. The word spreads and you have fans. I've never encountered a recording artist who decides what fans are and decides what they will listen to?

I find their comment as inherently stupid as their peroxide scorched craniums.

That's because the bulk of the other country singers have a brain.

Why do they think they will get any more support from the Rockers. It's the pop scene that will embrace them

If Merle Haggard is now supporting the Dixie Chicks, he's gone a long way from "Big City," which is my all-time favorite redneck song. Maybe Merle's boozing has caught up with him and he needs some free government medical care.

Faith Hill, Shania Twain...but I think they underestimate the true Rock fan. Bruce's venues keep getting smaller and smaller...and after Michael Jackson's shenanigans, very few people will admit to ever having been a fan...

My boys (age 12 and 17) with every conceivable form of music available to download and play back, are stuck in the 70's, Molly Hatchett, Blue Oyster Cult, CCR, Queen and Stones and even Johnny Cash's song about taking home a Cadillac from the assembly line. Every morning, I am serenaded by my Robert Plant wanna be's as they hit the shower.

As my budding Cartman says, "Chicks are crap!"

They are history no matter how you look at it. I give them one year and you'll probably never hear anymore about them.

After country music has fairly solidly turned its back on the chicks, they announce that they're leaving.

mm hm.
