Question for you experts re Outlook Express (vanity?)

My OE server times out when "receiving list of messages from server". I have upped the server timeout to 5 minutes and made a rule telling OE not to download any big emails.

I've been through the whole troubleshooting section on OE help.

I ran a virus scan, none detected.

Any other suggestions? Besides buying a mac? ;-)

(I've had a mac and didn't like it - and the modem blew, which supposedly never happens on a mac)

Thanks!

I often have the same problem. Have to go to webmail and delete the oversized email.

Pretty sure it's an earthlink problem.

If you don't control the server, it's probably a good idea to get in touch with the folks who do. You can't fix the server by fiddling with the client.

I work in IT, and the funniest thing I encounter on a daily basis is people who think their "computer is broke" whenever they encounter a server difficulty (or anything else, for that matter).

Pegasus Mail. It is FREE and best of all: it is not OE.

Pegasus Mail

Wonderful program, but a bit clunky with text. Totally secure. Netscape Mail is almost as secure, and handles text better.
