During the blizzard in February idiocy like that employer was averted by the declaration of a state of emergency. No one was allowed on the roads except essential personel or in emergencies. The fines were very stiff.

That stemmed from the ice storms of 1993 when numerous idiotic employers demanded employees come to work and many people were injured.

You all know me well enough that I hate over restrictive government restrictions - but in cases of emergency such as sever weather it is the government's job to protect saftey and well being.

Tnat makes perfect sense, because there is always someone who thinks you really can drive safely on ice. If they are fined, they might learn that you really can't.
