Did Ben's mom mean the sort of woman who starts cheating on her husband with another man and looks for another husband within a few months of the wedding? I can see how she might hope for better for her baby boy.
Reps. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., Nanci Pelosi, D-Calif., and Steny Hoyer, D-Md., objected to the policy in a Sept. 11 letter to Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson.
They urged Thompson to reconsider the policy, which they say could paralyze AIDS prevention initiatives and weaken local efforts to slow the spread of the deadly AIDS virus, HIV, which infects at least 40,000 people each year and kills 20,000 others. rest of story, USA Today

Let me get this straight - the most preventable disease in history (i.e., if you don't want it, don't engage in the sort of behavior that makes it likely you'll get it) suddenly can't be prevented because of a government policy?

"I love you guys, but even I had a fun time watching this. You know, all these kind of funny candidates with all their funny slogans. I thought, this beats watching 'Friends' or a rerun on TV. I'll just watch California!"

As for the Bennifer wedding cancellation, it is a real shame because they were going to spend a lot of money in California on it and it would have helped our economy...the reception mansion alone was going to cost $25,000 to rent and they had booked rooms at a lot of pricey hotels in the Santa Barbara area. All the tabs have been there for a week, staking things out.
Former President Bill Clinton will headline a charity fundraiser Monday in San Francisco in an effort to combat the ongoing sectarian violence in India -- a contentious issue that has divided Silicon Valley Indo-Americans. The event signals a dramatic shift on the part of the charity, Milpitas-based American India Foundation, which until now has stayed out of the debate over the rise of Hindu nationalist and Islamist beliefs on the sub-continent....
Local mosques, Hindu temples and other gathering places have been the source of fundraisers, forums and national conventions about ending the most recent violence, which began 19 months ago when ethnic tensions exploded in Gujarat, India that resulted in thousands of deaths. Even the Valley's most prominent tech companies have been thrown into the fray, after allegations that their charitable contributions to a Maryland-based Indian foundation supported Hindu nationalist activities in India. Trying to navigate the turmoil, the American India Foundation hopes today's benefit will demonstrate their inclusiveness of all Indo-American interests. Organizers say Clinton's speech about ``social development and communal harmony to preserve the secular fabric of India'' will not blame either side. But the event may do little to quell both sides of the political divide.... rest of story
