Timeout, that is a terrifically inspiring pic.
HLL - Can we adopt Baker Company and start sending them stuff. I feel the need to renew my troop commitment.
To: Endeavor
If we can come up with an address, I have a box already to go to Baker Company. I packed up a box to go to Afghanistan, but didn't have a current address.
Halloween is coming up and our boys need candy!

In which part of Boston will you be? If you're near the Common, just get on the Freedom Trail at Park St. Church and start walking (follow the red line to the Old North Church, the Old State House, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere's house)! I always like to walk through the Granary Burying Ground next to the Park St. Church. That's where Paul Revere, Samuel Adams and other great patriots are buried. Best Italian food is on Hanover, Salem or Prince streets in the North End; the last time we were there we ate at nearby Assaggio, 29 Prince St. Mmmm, don't get me started - I love visiting Boston!

SuziQ lives somewhere in the Boston area - maybe she has some ideas, too.
To: Iowa Granny
Well, I'm highly prejudiced, I'd take a harbor tour (and you'd probably never get me off the boat, either - it's an addiction).
Mountaineer has some good suggestions including emailing SuziQ.

Its hard to look at the pic with both of them on vacation together without getting a little misty..

Thanx for those suggestions. I don't know where I'll be. I'll have to wait until Monday to check this info out. I booked my flight this afternoon and the conference brochure is at the office so I'll let you know the first of the week where I'll be staying.

Yes, and very angry.

Heading out early in the morning for Ames. Kick off is at 11:00 am.
It will be nice to pick up a newspaper next week and not see 3/4 of the paper full of Iowa/Iowa State stories.

In Ali Salem's 'An Apology From An Arab', Ali relates the smallness that many arab men feel and want to strike out at the "big guy" they'll never be. Although he isn't arab, Jayson seems to fit this profile:
They know that most people respect logic and reason. So they go looking for a nationalistic cause: this is what Osama bin Laden did when he claimed the Palestinian cause as a justification for the destruction of Sept. 11.
But beneath their claims is a sadder truth: these extremists are pathologically jealous. They feel like dwarfs, which is why they search for towers [large institutions, i.e., NYT] and all those who tower mightily. We must admit that we failed to teach these people that life is worth living.
Although Ali Salem speaks of terrorist extremists, he's not far off in describing what the government does to black men who are told they can't do it on their own and must use affirmative action to rise up their lot in life, just because they're black.

Ashcroft-Bashing Could End Up Hurting Democrats
By Mort Kondracke
To observe this Sept. 11, 2001, anniversary, I urge critics of Attorney General John Ashcroft - especially the Democratic presidential candidates - to read the article "The Falling Man" in the current Esquire.
A photo on page 176 shows the article's subject plunging headfirst from the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Taken by celebrated Associated Press photographer Richard Drew, the picture was printed once in various newspapers - then banned by the U.S. media as too awful for public consumption.
The riveting article, by Tom Junod, chronicles the search to identify the "falling man," but the larger point for today, two years later, is that hundreds of people were driven by heat and smoke to leap to their deaths before the towers collapsed. The article is must-reading because - since the horror of the jumpers has been hushed up - it's a new wake-up call about the menace of terrorism.
Al Qaeda is still out there. Cells may be operating right here in the United States. Osama bin Laden still wants to wreak terror on America. Radical Islamicists have declared that using weapons of mass destruction to kill women and children is part of the holy duty of jihad.Commentary

You guys will kill the hogs. I'm yelling for you in every game this season except the Aggie game (have to remain loyal, ya know) and I know we'll lose that one. I hope you guys are national champs this year. So, as hard as this is for me to say, indeed, "hook 'em."
To: Endeavor
You may be correct; I just don't devour the sports pages as I used to, but the talk radio guys (homers) seem to think that this may be the best team that Mr.Brown has fielded.
Cheers up there - gig'em.

Well, phooey. The Mountaineers stunk up the joint, but at least the Pitts won.

Nice work Pitts - are you the school that Tony Dorsett ran to the Heisman?
