Apple's going to get my $2,999 - but fortunately, I already have a monitor, Adobe software and Final Cut Pro, so I'm pretty well covered.

You're right about the lesser models, though - they're not significantly different in performance to the dual processor 1.25ghz G4, still available at under $1,700 at various outlets.

With all the viruses and worms circulating around the Windows world, the Mac really deserves more consideration than it gets. At least so far, you are absolutely immune from all of them. The Mac simply doesn't have the market share needed to make development of that kind of software rewarding.

Also, remember that Apple does and has been doing all the innovation for the PC market to copy. So in fact the Apple customer base has been financing all significant innovations, since the PC market is not capable of innovation anything!
