A friend of mine told me story about it being customary for a gentleman to leave the seat up when visiting someone else's home to let everyon know the seat was not wet.

I don't remember where he lived but I thought that was the funniest thing I have ever heard.

it is the custom of THIS gentleman to leave the seat as I found it. Maybe the owner want's it up for some reason, maybe they want it down. rather than go into a heavy seat discussion, I simply leave it as the owner wished it to be.

except for my ex - I always leave hers up, even when I don't use it.
